It's not lag ...
Hi there,
It's not lag ... it's a problem called memory leakage, which Disney have now admitted to on their 'Known Issues' page.
I'll give you a brief description of the problem and the only current, unsatisfactory solution.
The problem is that the TT program progressively uses more and more memory on your PC. The reason being poorly written software - effectively what happens is that the program keeps forgeting to re-use the memory it has already taken for it's self and takes some more unused memory instead. This continues until the lack of free memory slows down your computer ... If you leave it long enough you will get a low memory message from windows.
This problem has been around since I started playing Toontown (about 4 months ago) and probably a lot longer.
The only way around it at the moment is to log out and restart Toontown on a regular basis - how often will depend on how much memory your PC has, but basically when it starts to lag log out and then log back in.
(For those of you who want to look, bring up your Task Manager when you've first logged on (CTRL-ALT-DEL) and note the amount of memory Toontown is using in the Processes Tab. Then close then TM window. Once you've been playing for an hour or two open it up again and look at the much higher amount of memory now being used to do the same thing.)
I hope this helps ... It's Disney's problem and it's about time they actively tried to fix it ... It's just bad code and a company the size of Disney should not be happy to rake in so much money each month in exchange for shoddy goods.
If I find a better and more permanent solution I will post it - I'm still trying.
