Let's Work Together! A Guide to Working with Supernoobs and Uber Toons
Supernoobs and Uber Toons everywhere, please help me with your suggestions for how to improve this strategy guide.
Mods, please sticky this post. Thanks! Violet Let’s Work Together! A Guide to Working with Supernoobs and Uber Toons; Revised December 4, 2004 by Violet Bagelburger Working with supernoobs and uber toons presents special challenges and extra fun for players of all levels. Here are some tips for greater enjoyment of your supernoob and uber toon encounters! Why should I work with Supernoobs? Most supernoobs are generally highly experienced players, which makes them helpful partners for toontasks and missions. Because they generally have few or no assigned toontasks of their own, supernoobs are usually happy to help you complete your tasks and build your gags. If you are playing a mid-laff toon, supernoobs may have better cog radar or gags than you, making them especially useful! Friends of supernoobs and uber toons often enjoy the added challenge of keeping a low laff toon alive and helping to build their gags. Working with a supernoob can make a “routine” toontask or factory run a lot more exciting! Finally, let’s not forget those elder toon jellybean tasks. Supernoobs are essential to the Toontown economy, earning thousands of jellybeans for their friends and acquaintances every day! Is it “safe” to go into an elevator with a supernoob? It is more risky to play with a low laff toon, but a supernoob’s developed gags and experience level may more than make up for it. Take a look at the supernoob’s gags before going into an elevator. If his gags are the same level (or higher) as other toons with tasks in that playground, then he probably is up to the challenge. Are there special strategies for fighting cogs with a Supernoob? * Coordinate, coordinate, coordinate. If you and your teammates work together and make the best possible use of your gags, everyone in your party is more likely to survive, regardless of laff levels. * Don’t take unnecessary risks with low-level gags, low accuracy gags, or uncoordinated attacks. This may not be the best time to camp with that banana peel on a level 9 cog! Instead, focus on working as a team and coordinating your attacks to keep everyone alive. * Plan to use lots of toon-up and lure gags. This helps to keep the supernoob alive, helps the supernoob build his gags, and earns you plenty of toon-up and lure points too. * Using sound can be more risky for a supernoob, because the cogs are more likely to attack him if he uses his sound—especially if his sound does the most damage. Keep this in mind when choosing and coordinating your attacks. What about the Sellbot HQ factory? • A supernoob with level 5 gags is capable of making a positive contribution to a successful factory run, regardless of his laff level. Keep in mind that most supernoobs have previous factory experience—this is probably not his first toon to enter the factory. • Consider doing a side entrance run when working with supernoobs. There are fewer cogs and fewer goons to deal with, making it less risky. • Be careful when escorting low laff toons through parts of the factory that involve additional laff point risk, like Stomper Alley and the Lava Room. While some experienced players enjoy avoiding obstacles in these areas to earn extra jellybeans and gags, other players are not so skilled and may go sad during the journey. • The catwalks to the Warehouse are the most risky parts of the factory journey for low-laff, high gag toons. Run ahead and disable as many goons as you can. Your supernoob friend may need to sit out the Warehouse battle and wait until the goons are destroyed before rejoining your party. Don’t be alarmed—he will be right back! • Lower laff supernoobs may not have enough gags in their bag to make it through a full merits run. If you take them on a merit run, plan on escorting them to a safe restocking place in the factory. Otherwise, they may have to pass a few times to still have all their big gags in play for the silo battles. • Consider the gags of the supernoob when planning your attacks in the factory. If he has strong sound gags, you can probably use the “sound it out” strategy all the way up to the Center Silo, although the supernoob may go sad if the sound fails and all the cogs attack him. If he doesn’t have strong sound, it may make more sense to use lure in the factory. • The Center Silo battle can be interesting if the hypnogoggles or foghorns miss. One way to compensate for this is to coordinate an attack on the Factory Foreman, who has the greatest chance of wiping out the supernoob in a single blow. Another possible strategy is to have the supernoob wait outside the Center Silo while you use your hypnogoggles, then enter the Silo for the second round of attack. What about the Sellbot HQ VP? • A supernoob with level 5 and 6 gags is capable of making a positive contribution to a successful VP run. • Most supernoob toons choose to do their VP runs with the Cold Callers Guild (www.coldcallersguild.com). The CCG welcomes toons of every possible laff and experience level, and has helped many supernoobs and uber toons earn their VP promotions all the way up to Hollywood level. It is also possible to do VP runs outside CCG, by organizing a team of experienced, supportive friends. Some players find it helpful to plan their VP runs around times when more adults are likely to be playing. • The CCG has found that coordinated lure attacks, rather than sound attacks, are preferable for keeping low laff toons alive in the VP cog battles. • During the pie-throwing round, make sure there is someone to toon-up the supernoob in battle as needed. They may appreciate a few cream pies now and then.

<<Our problem is finding others who will let us go into buildings with them. Do any others out there find this a problem?? >>
This can be a challenge, but also part of the fun of playing a supernoob or uber. If you don't have a SF online or available, here are some strategies that have worked for Violet over time: * Find or make friends who are similar in gag development to you, and help them with their toon tasks. If they see you as a helpful friend, they are more likely to invite you to buildings over time. Violet has formed many strong friendships this way. * Focus on building your radar. If you have cog and/or building radar, then you are more likely to be able to help your non-secret friends with their tasks, and they are then more likely to call on you for help (especially if you have better radar than they do!). * Look for very high laff toons hanging around the Donald's Dock playground and ask them if they need help (they are probably looking for a small toon to help with a building). * Look for toons in any neighborhood with a star, and follow them to buildings. If they are star-chasing, they will probably appreciate some extra help. * Earn yourself a star if you can. Once you have a star over your head, nobody will check your laff very carefully. :-) * Look for a party of three standing in front of an elevator and looking forlorn. Chances are they will take you into their party and jump into the elevator without looking at your laff. Once you're in the building, wow them immediately with your gags and strategy so they won't have second thoughts. :-) * Learn to take the reactions of others in stride. Many players have never met a low-laff high gag toon before, and don't know what to expect. Very often, those "you stink / I think this is too risky for you" comments will turn into "you are a genius! / please be my friend!" after a single street battle or building adventure. If other players continue to be skeptical or impolite in spite of your best efforts, just move on to another street or district. * Always be polite and respectful. Don't push yourself into a party that doesn't want you. Don't take an elevator spot away from someone's friend or from someone who needs that building for a toontask. Be nice when other toons say "no thank you" or something worse. Remember, there are lots of other buildings out there for you to conquer. Hope this is helpful! Violet B.
