Useful tips, glitches and facts about Toontown (Ideal for people new to Toontown)

It's also on another fansite, but I got permission from the owner of the thread who was ME! You may not need to read this if you're used to Toontown. Tell me any tips to add or/and your opinions on this thread.

Here are the tips!

Safety
(The 'Safety' tips are the most important. Reading these may help prevent you getting tracked down or suspended.)

. If you are talking to a secret friend, never, ever tell them your home address. Also, never give them your real full name, telephone number or email address, even if they are your friend in the real world. Remember, you never know for certain if people you meet online are who they say they are. Someone might have managed to hack into your friend's account and ask for your MSN. It may seem like your friend, but it isn't. Also, do not random codes under the age of thirteen, unless you know a lot about safety.

. When other toons are saying 'woof rruff rruff arf arf', 'mew meow mew' or other animal noises, it means that they're using SF chat. The only way to understand them clearly is to become SFs with them, by trading codes outside the game. If you don't know them in real life, SF them by using the speedchat (Only do this if you're 13 or over). The link at the bottom of this post will tell you more about becoming SFs with someone you don't know, but doing that is often dangerous and frowned upon.


Rumors

. Rumors have been going around saying that Bossbot HQ is in that closed tunnel in Chip n' Dale's Acorn Acres. Well, it isn't...it's in Chip n' Dale's Minigolf!

. There will not be a Fluffy's Funny Farm, unless they make a new map page.

. Bossbot HQ is not underwater. It's in Minigolf. You may have seen some pictures of it underwater, but it was really a bunch of really good edits by someone on this website.



Estates and Doodles

. If you have a doodle, don't feed it loads and loads, as you give it your jellybeans, which is your money.

. You may have a friend who has lots of picture frames in their home. That means they can use it for SFing.




Cogs & Gags

. If you are defeating a Cog, if you want credit, use a gag that is the same level as the cog or under. For example, if you are defeating a level 4 cog, choose a gag which is level 4 or under, because you will not get credit if you choose a gag higher than the cog's level. If you use a level 7 gag or sound, and at least one of the cogs are the same or higher level than the gag, but the others are lower leveled, you will still get credit.

. Never go in a 4 story tall or taller cog building alone if you have less than around 70 laff points, a not fully-trained doodle, or hardly any gags, especially in Donald’s Dreamland. Also, try to go in with someone with Toon - Up so you do not get too sad. It is also best to do these rules when in a cog headquarters as well. You may ignore this rule if the cog building is in Toontown Central.

. The reccommended gags that you choose are Toon-up, Lure and Sound.

. You can't buy Level 7 gags from the gag shops - you have to earn an amount of points to get another one, or plant one type of Lvl 7 gag in your garden! So only use them if you have less than '100 to go!'

. If you stay on the sidewalk, the cogs will not get you, even if they walk into a building to take it over.

. When you complete Flippy's tasks in Toontown Central and he asks you to go to someone to choose a gag, it doesn't matter which one you choose: you can get the other one later in the game if you want to.

. A 4-man maxxed foghorn attack WILL kill almost anything, unless it misses. 3 ORGANIC foghorns and a aoogah can kill anything as well.

. Save your powerful gags until you really need to use them.

. If there is an invasion of high-level cogs, warn your Toon friends. If you're a subscriber, it is ideal that you buy or get gifted the phrase 'There's a Cog Invasion!'

. "Group" Toon-ups (Megaphone, Bamboo cane, Juggling Balls, High Dive) will divide the increase to Laff among all Toons. For example, a Megaphone will give +18 Laff if there is only one other Toon in the group, +9 if two, and +6 if three.

. If you want to use trap, make sure that you, an SOS card, or someone else has lure.

. The most invasions are in the district Nutty River. And when there is an invasion, your gag experience points are doubled. So if you use a level 1 gag, you will get 2 gag experience points, and if you use a level 2 gag, you will get 4 points, and so on.

. The Ocean liner drop gag isn’t the most powerful gag – the train trap gag is!

. The Corporate Raiders, Big Cheeses, Legal Eagles, Bigwigs, Loan Sharks, Robber Barons, Minglers and Mr. Hollywoods are only found in buildings and cog headquarters, unless there is an invasion in progress.

. SOS cards from the VP are only for emergencies. Don't use them until a very risky emergency.

. Bossbot HQ is much different than other HQs, as there are no cogs in the courtyard.




Glitches and Fun

. In Pajama Place, go to the shop ‘Talking in your sleep Voice training’, and ask Whispering Willow “Would you like some help?” and she gives you the resistance salute, “Toons of the world unite!”

. Visiting Hibernation Vacations on Polar Place and saying "Howdy" would cause your toon to grow and turn white. However, it only works in the Brrgh, so if you go into another neighbourhood, you won’t be big and white any more. So just get it again!

. To get into ‘the green/grey’, go to your estate, and then make your wardrobe face the wall. Then walk up to your wardrobe and see what happens!

. If you have the Resistance salute (if you don’t, see above), go to any deep pond (Acorn Acres, Donald’s Dock or your toon estate are a good idea), go to the edge and jump, do the resistance salute, and land in the water! If you done it right, it will look like you’re drowning! (This move is ideal for making crime movies!)

. If you do the resistance salute, and press forward at the same time, you'll be gliding across the floor! Try it yourself!

. Try making a uber! A uber is a toon with lots of gags, but hardly any laff. The most common types are 15 laffers with wedding cake and geyser, or 25 laffer with wedding cake, geyser, and high dive or the opera singer.




Friends

. If you want a friend but you cannot find any, try changing districts to an ideal one.

. When you want to X someone because they’re mean, do it when they are offline so they’ll have a less likely chance of finding you and griefing you even more.


Tasks

. Don’t choose the ‘just for fun’ tasks because they don’t give you a useful reward. Only choose them when you completed all the other toontasks with a proper reward, need more jellybeans, or want to look like a big toon.

. If you get a toontask, which involves going into a building, but the building has been taken over by cogs, wait (if someone's in it), take over the cog building, or change districts.

. If you want a good toontask, visit different shops until you find the task you want. For example, you might find a task asking for 20 Big Cheeses for a 1-point laff boost, and then you find a task asking for 30 Bossbots for the same laff boost. Choose which one you like most, or even easier - choose both!

. When you do the Lil Oldman toontasks, as he seems very evil, get some Toon Friends to help you with his tasks.

Other

. To take a screenshot press F9. To open your shticker book, press F8. To open your friends’ list, press F7. To find out how much lag you're getting, press F6. Also, press 'Home' to see your gags and 'End' to see your tasks.

. If you have never played Toontown before, get some free trials before you actually join. But if you don’t want to pay, always get free trials. You may not get much, but it is better than not playing Toontown at all!

. If you want a black cat, get it on Halloween.

. When Goofy’s Speedway first came out in the UK, the people who took free trials were allowed in other neighbourhoods if they went in Goofy’s Speedway first. Now, you can access all the neighbourhoods in free trial on purpose!

. Subscriptions are cheaper in the summer!

. To see if someone is on free trial, just look at their names! If it's the same font as it is on the speedchat, they're a free trialer. If the fonts are different, they're a subscriber! But some subscribers buy the free trialer font, mostly to confuse people.

. If you want to get into a full district, teleport to a friend in it, or wait for it to turn green or blue.

. You may have found a map page in your schticker book with clouds. To get rid of the clouds, explore all the neighbourhoods!

. The fonts used on Toontown are Impress BT (the one being used right now), VTPortableRemington, and finally, Mickey.

(The next tip is probably the most important of all the ones listed)

Well its kind of scattered. (You jump from one topic to the next) You may want to try using headers that seperate certain catagories of tips, from others. Its a work in progress, but with a little tweaking here in there, it could turn out for the better.

Okay, I'll sort it out in a minute.

Well the first thing I would do is unquote it, the italic text makes it harder to read, I you want to keep it italic I would sugest making main font one bigger, But to be honest I would use normal clear text for guides, if you want everybody to appreciate and read it more.

Also maybe a bit of colour would make it more interesting and some small pic showing results of certain things, I found guides with pics or more colour hold more peoples attention for more of the time then plain text ones.

Otherwise information is good.

Pretty good, although at 70 laff the only 4 story you can solo MAYBE are the rare ones in Donalds Dock, and that's if you have good lure. I would suggest putting around 100 with good lure.
