To the group I was just in CEO with.......

I have never been so disappointed in known test players. Just when we felt test was back to normal, doing each boss battle tonight. After CJ I had decided I was toontowned out, but also got IM's that so many were there for CEO and we were needed, so I signed back in.

When everyone was low in laff Skip called for a group toonup sharing all the tu unites he had in 10's and 80. As things progressed he was in need of toonup as others were, I felt totally helpless using what unites I had in previous boss battles. Those there were throwing unites for themselfs when the group was all hurting? How hard is it to say lets use toonup, meet here?

Skip wound up going sad as CEO was red, one with 80+ laff was taking goodies from the only side we had at the time. I also believe Lila went sad or disco'd before Skip.

After Skip went sad I saw two more unites go off as I was under 30 laff. I tooned one row of goodies and helped you finish so you danced, but I had decided well before that point that I didn't want to dance with you, I X'd out as he threw in the towel.

This is not how we play on test, all of you there I see everyday, I cannot express how upset this CEO made me. Can't say I care to do any Boss battle anytime soon with that kind of teamwork!

I hate to have to defend how I play toontown but when someone puts it on ttc I feel I have to defend myself.

So here goes my side.
When Skip did the unites, I was at 89 when I left the golf area and only came because he was right behind me. (I got hit at least one time waiting for the unites).
As I play 2 toons, except for boss battles, I don’t use speed chat so I really don’t know where the phrases are to be fast enough to use them.
I do not check all the toons for laffs in CEO as we are on ventrilo others usually tell which toons are low.
Other CEO battles that I have been in, toons stand behind the golf area or at the conveyer area when they need a toon up, I do go and unite them.
I would have united you or skip or any toon if I had known you needed help, if you asked for help I didn’t see it.
This was the first CEO I have ever used a unite for myself, which was after he was hitting for -19 and I was in the 40’s, and I didn’t take any goodies from the conveyer.
One of the toons was a kid and his mother was in the other CEO but he did look for toons that need help before he used the unite (as conveyed by his mother on ventrilo)
At 10 minutes before the scheduled time for CEO there were 8 toons waiting, some wanted to go with the 8 but the group on ventrilo(5 of us) wouldn’t go until the scheduled time. This is the question I have: “should we go when 8 show up or wait?”
I am sorry that others went SAD and would have united anyone; we need all the toons to win.
I would like to invite you and Skip or any others to join us on ventrilo, you could be on any time or only for boss battles.

I was in that ceo battle, and it was a tough one. I would not have survived without the unites that were thrown. I appreciated the warning from Skip, but I am like Aqua cat in that I am not fast on speed chat. I'm impressed by those that are. I was in the vicinity of 2 unites that were thrown when I was down to 20 or below-maybe they had checked and knew I was low, or maybe I just got lucky. I was running so fast to get back to work on the CEO that I am afraid I might not have even said thanks, but I want you all to know that I was grateful. I did get some of the goodies- I always feel guilty when I do, but it has been pointed out to me that being a martyr does not help the group, so I do go get them if I see no one else there. I was like Di in that I did not have any unites to throw either. I do have one question- what is ventrilo? Is it like Yahoo, which takes up too much of my memory to use it during boss battles? Di, I want to assure you that I personally tried my best to make sure that everyone danced, and I hated that Lila and Skip did not make it. Since one of the group was a kid, and one was an old lady (me) I hope you will forgive us.I really didn't get the sense that anyone was being selfish, but I didn't spend a lot of time watching other toons. I was running back and forth from the golf tees and the bottles. I did whichever I thought was needed more at the time. Hang in there and don't give up on us!

Much ado about nothing

I think the whole problem here is we all have so much trust and respect for each other that its hard to be let down. I myself know and trust almost everyone who went in both CEOs, and would never fear doing battles with them. I also know teamwork is the key and there are a lot of aspects to this, as keeping others happy is one of them. For me at this time only doing a handful of CEOs I am still learning all the things to consider to make a good team. I am first and foremost concerned about my toons laff meter and others come second. I am also guilty of being on Ventrilo and able to talk to other players, thus forget to use the speed chat and fumble trying to find the right phrase. Maybe we can have some ideas on improving team work and communication! I still don't think we have mastered CJ, we are still trying to figure out how many stunners we need. As I said before I trust and love playing with most all the players on test, and if I pick the wrong gag or throw a safe on the CFOs head Please Forgive Me!

Love the game and the players,

Regard,

Dan

Sometimes we judge others' actions without walking in their moccasins. For example, I caught myself grabbing a goody right after a toon used a unite. So if anyone saw me at that moment, they would have judged me for doing it, but I didn't realize for a moment that I didn't need it any more.So I could have been the 80 grabbing goodies, who knows? I certainly would not have intentionally taken goodies from Lila, Skip, or any of the toons in the battle.
I also think that this kind of thing would not be a problem if the goodies came out faster. There will continue to be problems as long as success in battle is dependent on using unites.

Is it really still required to use unites in the CEO in test? In open, we don't use them anymore. There are of course, the snack hogs who just eat the whole time, but as a whole group, we don't get so low that we need to use unites. I have thought that the CEOs in open seemed easy to me. I haven't done one in test since Boss opened in open. I was wondering this before - and after this thread, I am pretty well convinced.. do you think the CEO is set harder in test vs. open?

No, unites are not usually needed, but we went in short, and lost one due to lag very early on, and had a child with us. When I saw Lila’s laff, I said “Let’s use toon-up….Meet here”, and waited for her to get there. She was obviously having issues, and never did make it over. We both were being hit with random –5, and I was getting –20s from golf attacks. I’ve come out of battles with full laff before, and been at 1 others (hee hee, think that was a Sunday night, so we won’t go into that one). When 8 toons go in… or even 6 or 7 on a normal run, it should not require the use of unites. If you are with inexperienced/distracted toons, or someone is having internet issues…

I think that my issue with ventrillo or teamspeak, or any of the other voice chats, is that it seems that there is very little communication with the people NOT on it. Even in battles, it seems that way to me. If people were not “talking” amongst themselves, then perhaps it would be easier to remember what had been said was a good way of making sure everyone got tooned. In my opinion, it diminishes the team…if not ALL present are on it.

I'm taking a break from scheduled runs for a bit, but I'll be around.

Sorry I'm not proficient at posting. Don't know how to add Quote.

It seams to me that you have no experience with VOIP or you wouldn't make statement like that. I agree that there is less communication with other toons but if we see a toon in trouble we let everyone know instantly. You can't do that with speed chat.

My experiences with people using VOIP has been limited to playing with people who are using it on TT. I know when people are on it because they tend to be less "in the game". Lack of conversation with teammates (SF and non-SF team mates) , and slow/odd gag choices as they seem to be paying attention to "something else". This is just MY experience, I'm not saying that its "the truth". I stink at multi-tasking so I try and keep the IMs to a minimum while engaged in the cog battles, and always ignore it when fighting the "boss". Seems to me it is easier to ignore a flashing light on my screen, than a real persons voice in my ear. I know that there are others in the "room" while you are in battles... do they keep quiet while you are battling? How can you not be distracted? Don't you have to push some key to speak? How does that not interfere with battle. In CEO, I have one hand charging the seltzer or shooting the golf balls, the other usually checking the LP of my team mates, and if they are low... I try and tell them to snack or golf, or I'll tell everyone "Let's use Toon-up .... I only have two hands. I think the ability to communicate equally with ALL team-mates in a boss battle is VITAL to survival, and MY opinion is that VOIP diminishes that communication.

Voip

There is a setting to use it hads free and that is how we use it. I use a bluetooth earpiece on Ventrilo because I hate the cord. I would love for you to try it out youi just need a mic and speakers or headphone. I am the corordanator for our Server just let me know and I will send info.

Thanks, but no thanks. I have already stated my opinions from the side of the toon NOT using it, and I would not care to put others in that position.

The day that I feel that I need to use VOIP to win a boss battle is the day I hang up my white gloves and put my shoes back on.
