I've played various games using in-game chat and using voice. As much as I love using voice, I personally prefer it when ALL members of the team or group are using it as it's very easy to get focused on what everyone is saying and ignore the ingame chat. That may just be me, and a lack of multitasking, but I have also been on the other side where I was unable to use voice for various reasons and others on my team were using it. It's very obvious when others are 'talking' and not using in game chat to communicate. Trust me, I've used voice chat enough on a variety of games to know how great it can be, but I also know the feeling when others are using voice and I'm not.

Now, I've never played TT and used voice with anyone who has posted here so please don't think this is aimed at anyone in particular, just offering some insight.

Both voice chat and IM can enhance any game, but you have to also remember to communicate with those who are using ingame chat.

Just a couple of comments. First I don't use voice chat, and most likely never will, for several reasons. I don't care if others do.

Secondly, I can't always use speedchat in battle. Sometimes I can, but sometimes it causes me to freeze. So usually I don't even try, because if it's one of the times I freeze I may not come back until it's too late. There have been times in CEO when I have time to check other toons and even chase them down to have them get my unite, but there have been a couple of times when I got hit several times in a row and got really low. Given the lag just from using the speedchat to throw the unite in the first place, the best I could do in those instances was to throw it and hope it hit ME!

IMO it's always best to not judge someone's intentions. How can we possibly know what others are thinking? If these were toons you know, or at least know to be team players in general, why not give them the benefit of the doubt?

We both were being hit with random –5, and I was getting –20s from golf attacks. I’ve come out of battles with full laff before, and been at 1 others (hee hee, think that was a Sunday night, so we won’t go into that one). When 8 toons go in… or even 6 or 7 on a normal run, it should not require the use of unites. If you are with inexperienced/distracted toons, or someone is having internet issues…

I think that my issue with ventrillo or teamspeak, or any of the other voice chats, is that it seems that there is very little communication with the people NOT on it. Even in battles, it seems that way to me. If people were not “talking” amongst themselves, then perhaps it would be easier to remember what had been said was a good way of making sure everyone got tooned. In my opinion, it diminishes the team…if not ALL present are on it.

I'm taking a break from scheduled runs for a bit, but I'll be around.

yes I was having some issues in there first when feeding the cogs I was getting 5 off each time then when we got to the ceo I was having trouble with the water bottle filling up then when I was getting low I did go over to get a couple of goodies but had to wait for them to come out then skip use the phase lets use toonup and as I was trying to get over there I got stuck and couldn't move and I was still getting points off of me when he wasn't near me or throwing gears I still don't know what ventrillo is but I know a couple times I was in conference room on yahoo talking but I haven't did that in about 6 months only because it distracts me to much and I start making mstakes I also not that fast with the speed chat I was on angelique which didn't have any united tu's philly has alot on her but she's working 14400 stocks skip I'm sorry you died in there to that was a tuff ceo even before I died hey skip I told you he was out to get me that day lol

As someone who has been in voicechats and been playing with friends who were in voicechat while I wasn't I can say it is a huge issue. When I wasn't in the chat I was often left out on what was going on. Simple things like doing bldgs etc. I know when I was in the voicechats, you always assumed that one said it to the others that weren't in the chats but then it didn't occur. I ended up not going on them anymore because I didn't like how it was on the other end. Not knowing when they were going in, what strategy they were using or instances like this, they forget to tell us they using a unite. Also when one uses voice chats it greatly diminishes the aspect of the game, which is interracting with all toons. Just my opinion..I see the fun in it and if everyone who is playing can be on the chat then have fun. Otherwise you are often leaving friends out and even possibly hurting feelings.

I like voip as I can play and talk with people that I am not friends with. When sf are chatting in boss battle on the opposite side in cogs killing rounds the chat sometime is covering up the gag picks on my side so I can’t see what gags are being picked this never happens with voip.I have done bug reports an asked that the chat be somewhere other than covering up the gag picks of toons on my side.

We have separate rooms and if you need help with a mint or da, you can hop into a room and ask if any one there needs the same. If some are doing da, some are doing mints or building they go to separate rooms so talking about their gags picks don’t distract the other toons.

We use it in test and in open.
I have done mints with 3 other toons that are all sf and they chat with each other most of the time, and they never used speed chat so I had not idea what they were up to, if the chat was about the game or personal. This was test and you go with whoever is around.

I think mostly its the responsability of everybody to keep an eye on their own laffs. I say mostly cuz I think theres exeptions and I think Skip is one of those exeptions. Hes such a nice toon and always helps everybody and oganizes this things and I think if your going to throw a unite you should at least check if he needs it too. I just think he deserves as much consideration as your best friend especially since hes usually the host of whatever your at.

I think thats the curteous thing to do but I dont think you can really blast people for not being curteous. Either people are or there not and you cant shame them in to being.

I also think this voip stuff for sure interfers with your concentrations. Its like the same things as talking on a cell while driving and studies have shown accidents are more likely then cuz your just not paying enough attention. Also I agree with the people who said it makes people not in the conversation feel like there intruding. The people "in" don't think we can tell, but we can.

chat or not to chat

My 2 best SF use it between themselves and I dont even know what it is....
It hasnt yet affected their prescence in the game nor the play , I dont have an opinion either way other than they are still my best SF in the game and I have always been able to count on them to help out in any battle. Funny thing about CEO, the only time i have lost so far was over the weekend, on open, my toon got stuck on a table at 52 laffs and I could not exit the table. I went sad , but oh well it was one of my soundless toons!! LOLOL
BTw He has a bigger suit than any of my others and is fun to play he he
