The (semi)complete guide to the Cog Golf Courses. TEST EDITION v.1

Now, they're not that hard, but some people don't understand the key purpose of each game, and that's what this guide is all about.
Table of Contents. (Ctrl+F will allow you to type in the header and skip to that section)

Section I: Game Puzzles
I. Whack A Mole
II. Mazes (W/ and w/o answers)
III. Cog Golf

Section II: General Knowledge
IV: V.2 Cogs
V: Stock Options Table

Section I: Game Puzzles
I. Whack A Mole
[IMG]http://xs124.******/xs124/08050/mole106.png[/IMG][IMG]http://xs124.******/xs124/08050/cogmole966.png[/IMG]

There;s not much I can explain about Whack-A-Mole, as this is a pretty straightforward game. Here's a strategy to help you out though.
Use a block strategy
There's a good way to play these games besides just running and stomping, and you can do it for 2, 3, and 4 man teams. ^^

If you are a 4 man team, you can use a 3x3 strategy,
Code:
O O O | O O O
O O O | O O O
O O O | O O O
---------------------
O O O | O O O
O O O | O O O
O O O | O O O
A 3 man team can use a 2x6 strategy,
Code:
O O | O O | O O
O O | O O | O O
O O | O O | O O
O O | O O | O O
O O | O O | O O
O O | O O | O O
And finally, a 2-man can just split it into half.
Code:
O O O | O O O
O O O | O O O
O O O | O O O
O O O | O O O
O O O | O O O
O O O | O O O
The Front Three: 8
The Middle Six: 12
The Back Nine: ??

Also a few tips to remember...
If you hit one mole you'll hit about 3 in a row, so be careful!
You do NOT have to jump on a mole to hurt it, the quickest way is to simply run into it, as you keep control and speed when you just run.

II. Mazes
Mazes are the most complicated puzzles in the Golf Courses, and can range anywhere from a few turns to a picture of someone's head.
The Front Three, will only give you one maze to complete, but the middle six and back nine double the mazes up.

I need your help on this section! Using the top down view and page up, take pictures of every maze and then hit F2 to find the floor number! Credit will be given to those
who help with this.
Maze --- Maze w/answer
Maze --- Maze w/answer

Final reward/penalty
Time is key to the maze game. If you complete the puzzle before time runs out (Place doesn't count) you'll gain 20 laff. If you do not get through the finish gate before times up, you will lose 20 laff and be teleported to the end.

III. Cog Golf
Objective
When you go in to "cog golf", each toon get's his/her own puzzle. The objective is to get three of a color together, work your way to removing the "cog ball", and complete the number of required puzzles in time as a team.

Reward for puzzle
When someone on the team finishes a puzzle, that toon will recieve a random gag, and everyone else will either have their puzzle turned into a new one, or recieve an explosive ball.

Types of balls
There are 5 types of ball in play at any given time during the game, and 2 more that can be recieved under certain conditions.
Balls in play
[IMG]http://xs224.******/xs224/08056/cyan670.png[/IMG][IMG]http://xs224.******/xs224/08056/green336.png[/IMG][IMG]http://xs224.******/xs224/08056/purple179.png[/IMG][IMG]http://xs124.******/xs124/08056/red515.png[/IMG][IMG]http://xs124.******/xs124/08056/yellow757.png[/IMG]
Regular Balls: These are regular colored balls which give nothing in return when destroyed.
[IMG]http://xs224.******/xs224/08056/questionball426.png[/IMG]
? Balls: Always cyan, these balls reward you with a wild card ball when removed from play.
[IMG]http://xs124.******/xs124/08056/flame100.png[/IMG]
Flame Balls: Always red, these balls reward you with an explosive ball when removed from play.
[IMG]http://xs224.******/xs224/08050/rockball659.png[/IMG]
Rock Balls: Found only in one level, these balls cannot be destoyed by any means except removing the cog ball from play.
[IMG]http://xs124.******/xs124/08056/cogball769.png[/IMG]
Cog Balls: There are 1-2 on each level, and your main objective is to remove this ball from play by removing balls around it.
Extra balls
[IMG]http://xs124.******/xs124/08056/wildcard310.gif[/IMG]
Wild Card Ball: Can be used with any color ball to destroy them.
[IMG]http://xs124.******/xs124/08056/explode672.gif[/IMG]
Exploding Ball: Destroys any golf ball it touches.

Task Tip: Use the new "top down" view to see the ball you're about to shoot and the next ball coming!

Final reward/penalty
In the end you will recieve any gag you've won during the game, and laff depending on you're success. If all puzzles were completed in time, you will recieve 20 laff, and if you do not complete them before time runs out you lose 20 laff.

Section II: General Knowledge

IV: V.2 Cogs
Version 2 cogs are the CEO and Chairman's creation. When defeated, they will respawn as a skelecog w/ the cogs level and ???added health???
The lowest possibe V.2 is a level 9, which appears only in the CEO battle. Best way to kill these cogs is to double up on them, by doing stuff such as TNT and a B-day/cream pie (or piano) on an 11, or Bday/cream pie and 2 storms for a 12.

V: Stock Options Table
Here's a chart of all the stock options, levels were not added on everything under big cheese as it wasn't needed.
[IMG]http://xs124.******/xs124/08050/bbchart788.png[/IMG]

But of course, the chart is useless if you don't know how many you'll get! ^^
(Credit goes to Little Pearl Petalbee and all who support to her thread)
The Front Three - (Estimated time to complete ???)
The Stock Options 386 (Normal)
The Stock Options 764 (in invasion) -Thks NanaSue/Miss Marple

The Middle Six - (Estimated time to complete ???)
The Stock Options 953 (Normal)
The Stock Options 1883 (in invasion) (Guess) -Thks Weeb

The Back Nine - (Estimated time to complete: 1 to 1 1/2 hours)
The Stock Options 1685 (Normal) -Thks mbgrayson
The Stock Options 2100+ confirmed/3378 guessed (in invasion) -Thks Murky/Weeb

NOTE: All estimated times are going by a team of 4 skilled players without waiting for an invasion to be called.

Well, I meant that you can't do anything like connect to rainbow balls to them or use an exploding ball. I understand that you can remove it by removing the cog ball. Let me clarify that in the guide. ^^

On Cog Golf, I have been trying to understand. Say there are 5 puzzles, is it when one of us completes our 5 puzzles we move forward or when we as a team complete the 5 puzzles? Just got me wondering because after it usually names one toon....

And how many puzzles is it typically?

I also don't know why sometimes I am playing then all the balls turn Black and I get a new puzzle. Is that when someone else has completed a puzzle or when they didn't complete the puzzle? It has only happened a few times so was thinking it was more someone didn't complete...

Team, guess I should add that too. ^^

I want to say six.
EDIT: Anywhere from 6 to 8 now that I think about it harder. I'll go look again. In the mean time, here's floor 0's puzzle. (BTW, I'll have to redo this as it doesn't go by floor, but room ID. Reason: I was on floor 0 and floor 2, they were the same puzzle.)

You're welcome. ^^

On another note, if someone gets the "unknown room" maze, do they mind hitting F2 and getting the Room ID? Thanks. ^^

Sometimes, I see toons in the mole stomp attempting to jump on the red moles. It's unnecessary.

It works fine to simply walk through them and it maintains control to continue walking to the next one so two can be taken out in the same "pop up" round.

I did a back 9, and an invasion was called. The toon needing 2,100 was filled, so we didn't get to discover how many it would give during a normal run. The gag rewards from cog ball were often level 6s, and resupplied us just fine. We finished with gags to spare even though not one level 7 was used. I was complaining however about the time investment. I'd allowed it one full hour when I joined to help them, and it took over an hour and a half. The team I was with were top notch tester toons, not noobs.

Just over an hour for me, don't know what I did differently. We seemed to be sounding almost every set, I got fogs from cog ball almost every time.

I'll add a note that jumping is unnecessary, and say that Back Nine with Invasion is 2100+. Thanks for the info I got out of that. ^^

Also, I've always wondered how long it would take to finish that horrid Back Nine, I think I may add estimated times to complete on there.

Any ideas on anything else I could put in before I write up the V.2 edition for open?

EDIT: I was wrong about mazes going by room # too, so I guess there isn't a solid appearance variable for them...

I'm playing with some numbers and I came up with these unverified totals for the Middle Six and Back Nine:

Middle Six
953 Options (verified)
1883 Options with invasion

Back Nine
1707 Options
3378 Options with invasion

This is based on the gag multipliers of 2, 2.5 and 3 respectively for the Front 3, Middle 6 and back 9. Level 10 cogs have a base Option value of 5 and level 11 cogs have a value of 6. Version 2.0 cogs have double value plus a 0.5 bonus. This is all speculation so feel free to critique.

A couple notes....

Last night did the 9 hole....

No invasion, and one toon got 1685 stock options.

Each hole has 8 cogs and 3 of them are version 2s, until the final hole when there are 4 version 2s.

In total, there are 72 cogs, 28 of whcih are version 2s. So if you count the skelecog that appears, there are 100 cogs all in all.

Also worth noting that on each hole, the first group of cogs you battle are 10s, and the second set are 11s.

Finally, I would note on the 9 hole that there were more moles, more golf puzzles needed to win, and harder mazes than on the 3 hole.

It took closer to 1.5 hours for us with a good group of toons, even using a ton of sound. By then end, we were all completely ourt of all sound gags
