Test Posted a notice about "crash"

It doesn't sound like we will get our things back

Toontown Game Server News: Attention TEST Toons: As part of our ongoing effort to keep Toontown as Toontastic as it can possibly be, we have recently made some changes to our database. This may have resulted in the loss of some of your Toon’s progress. We apologize for the inconvenience. Thanks for your continued participation in testing Toontown. It is your efforts that keep it a Toontabulous place to be a Toon!

Welps as said elsewhere, I'll get back what I lost, but will not play as hard from now on.

I lost my Devil Ray, that's pretty sad in itself minus everything that's poof, gone..

Sounds good Skip...weekends are always a good time for me to work my toon for long periods of time. I'm always on after work during the week, so I'm available to help others as I try to get back the tasks, laff points, gags and sell suit parts that were lost. Anyone needing help, just ask!

Angry What's to prevent this from happening again?

This was also posted under News Article thread. Repeated here for those who look at Test Town Territory Threads only.

The problem with Disney's approach is that there are no promise that it won't happen again.

As a matter of fact, this (imho) would make an reoccurance even more likely.

Why would anyone bother to work on test if there is a chance that all of your effort will once again be wasted when the system crashes.

I wouldn't be surprised if the programmers at Disney don't have a clue what happened, and are hoping to have the problem occur again so that they
might be able to figure it out.

While I have just recently started working my toon on test, and I do expect the occassional problem to set me back, I don't know if waiting for test to crash again and my efforts lost again are worth the advantages of being on test.

This crash was particularly bad because it occurred over a vacation time when lots of us spend more time on TT than usual.

I think my plan moving forward will be to work on test for a day or maybe two and then wait a week to see if the game crashes again. That way, I only lose a day or two.

I sent a comment/suggestion to Disney conveying my dissatification with their response. I would recommend all to do the same.

There are no guarantees that this won't happen again, I think we all know that. As Disney has stated previously, we are fortunate to be selected for test. We are here to find the bugs before they hit open. As I stated before, I'm angry that I lost ALOT of progress, but I'm going to keep moving forward on my new toon. I'm not going to worry about the "what if" factor, because it may not come. Caution is always good, don't get me wrong, and continue at the pace that you feel comfortable with.

Doubting it will happen again soon...

I've been on test for over a year - almost 18 months - and a roll-back such as this has never happened before in my experience!!

We might have lost ... a couple of hours (?) here or there - but I, personally, have never lost anything.

I'm very sorry for those who lost massive hours worth of work and effort, but I encourage you to not let it get you down. Try to take a deep breath, exhale, and then go back to working your toons with the same enthusiasm and joy that you always had - because you love ToonTown.

In the meantime -if there is anything I can do to help, please let me know.

As someone who has played on Test for well over a year, I can state that this does not happen often. I can't even remember the last time it did.

When you sign up for Test, there is a statement which says that there can be crashes, or that toons can even be changed or deleted by TT as needed to support the testing. Unfortunately there is a price for the opportunity to play on Test, and we Testers have to accept that.

I had just created a new toon on test, started out early Sun morning. He disappeared in the reset. One of my other toons got set back to the task he completed on Thur or Fri?? Just one of the perils of test, I guess.

I have been playing on test for quite some time and I have never experienced a setback before either. I think that we were set back 4 or 5 days to last Tuesday or Wednesday. Some people are saying they are not playing on test again until they "fix" it. How will they know if it is fixed, if people don't continue to play and progress in the game. I will continue to play on test, and report bugs as they occur. That is why we are testers. Disney has given us our accounts on test in return for our playing there and reporting to them any and all bugs. Can you imagine what would have happened if this had been released on open? When we were given our test accounts we agreed to test it all, not just play the new content before everyone else.

So sorry to everyone who lost their hard-earned gags, friends, tasks, clothes, fish, doodles, etc. on Test.

FWIW, I've been on Test for almost a year now, and this is the first time anything like this has happened to my toon as well. I would be surprised if it happened again any time soon. Test can be cruel at times, but not THAT cruel.

I'll be on Test tomorrow evening helping out anyone who needs it. Just give me a holler if you see a yellow bunny hopping around....
