Mints' purpose?

With the HQ almost ready for open, I am wondering exactly what the purpose of the mints is (in-game. I know what a mint is for :-) ).

Are they just places to go for cashbots, or will there be tasks associated with them?

Anybody know?

(Sorry if I missed this somewhere else.)

It's purrpose is for merits. You'll need more merits per cog suit now.

So they're just an alternative to buildings?

A source for high level cashbots?

This is cool, but I am a little disappointed.

No, William didn't tell you the whole thing. You are offered tasks to go into the mints and get parts. You can also get merits in them. Seems to me getting parts is going to be more of a hassle than it should be. I mean, you have to shop around for a good task and everything. At least it will keep the noobs out, considering you can't get these tasks until you get to DDL.

I would say the real reason for the mint was to allow smaller toons to enjoy some part of the new area while still locking them out from the CFO battle area.

The sellcog factory has the purpose of dispensing parts, the mints do not. They are for entertainment and gag work only. The points multiplier in the various mint runs are such that many, many toons will want to use this area to power up.

There are tasks to help "noob" toons under 85 in the Mint. I am assuming this is because these poor pitiful 85 laffers are stuck with tasks to do a mint like the DG toons get stuck from Coach Zucchini on a factory run.

Also, the merits for cashbot HQ are called "Cogbucks." I am guessing the main reason for the mints is to get merits more easily. Jury is still out on how they will do the merit math when it matters.

My personal opinion is that merits should be multiplied in buildings like gag credit.

That makes some really good sense. If Disney does anything to cater to the big toons ( or advanced players as they put it) the little toons will flip...so now they've made it very difficult to get your suit compared to sellbot.

But I'm wondering if we're going to have to rebuild the suit and get merits again when the suit parts are harder to get.

Ive seen it said somewhere that you will be keeping suit parts for your Cash Suit once you have obtained them with the post Brrgh tasks and you will have to get merits to return to battle the CFO. Quite possibly this will happen to Sell HQ as well.

Any thoughts anyone?

If you read back through the release notes you will see comments that support this view.

My Mood:
I admit to not going back and checking the release notes thoroughly, but I 'thought' the loss of parts was just temporary, so we could test all the new areas without the hindrance of needing to replace parts.

I will try to look back through the notes and check this, but I, for one, am not holding my breath that we will retain our full suits. Hopefully I will be proved completely wrong!

I'm not sure how much "fun" this will be for the smaller toons. It seems to be a killing ground for the smaller toons - as in them winding up green faced in the playground. With the smallest cog being 10s and very few of those and 16-20 in the *first* door, I think the gag credit might be better in a 5 story in DDL than the mint. And I'll take an "hard" DDL building over the back door of the mint. The restocks are only available on some floors and then you have to go through killing stompers to get them. It is not somewhere I would take my smaller laff toons for gag experience - gotta live to get those points

The sad thing is, my kids love the "games" that are involved in the mint. The chances of them getting in there are good because they both have high laff/high gags toons, but for most kids they are a long way from being able to "play" that part of the game and live.

As far as merits go *IF* the add up like they used to do in the factory (and continute to do in the buildings), it will again take ~10 mint runs to get your merits as a robber baron. If they don't add up like they did in the factory - no one will have a baron suit - the numbers are just too incredible. (8 fights at about 20 merits each = 160 merits --- merits need for a baron 12 suit - 8900 --- #of mint runs for merits - 55.)

I believe they have said that you will not lose parts anymore in either sell or cash HQ. Once you have them, you have them. But then they are free to change their minds now aren't they?

They must be planning other ways to get merits as well. With the reduction of cog levels in the factory, the runs it would take to get to holly 50 are out of this world. And at 8900 a pop for a baron 12+ I wouldn't expect them to make that too easy, afterall what they did with sell was make it harder then they really intended for it to be in the first place to help keep us busy while they worked on new content. They now are bringing it back to where they wanted it and I'd expect the same from the CHQ area until the LHQ comes out or possibly one of the missing play grounds.

I guess that is something. I feel that the factory and now the mints are underutilized in terms of the adventure part of the game. I had envisioned tasks sending toons to recover items from mint supervisors or maybe collect things that are stashed at the end of certain puzzles.

The factory became boring quickly for me once I mapped it and knew the routes through. If my toon would have been sent to recover an item from the lava storage room, for example, it would make it more fun IMO.

On the original question.....
If it stays like it is with all 10s(only 2 I saw), 11s, and 12s in there then what this will be is the place to come for all your shark and robber tasks. Sellbot factory was a good place to get minglers and hollies, but far from reliable as only one cog was guaranteed to be a non-street cog. It will be even less useful in this regard in the watered down version.

However, if the mint has almost all 11s and 12s, these will have to be sharks and robbers.

I already posted this thought somewhere else but will post it here to.

But what if to get a promotion to a different cog, you have to get the pieces for that suit? You could still do CFO as the level that you are to get merits/such but you would not be able to 'wear' the suit until you had the parts for it.

So like to go from a loan shark to a Robber Baron, you'd have to get tasks to get 12 pieces of the Robber Baron suit.
