Farming buildings and Merit Calculations

I think the way the game handles this has changed in the recent updates. Loosy said it was the 15.2 release of Jan 14th.

I want to spell out for people what it used to do and have people check to see what it is doing now.

What used to happen was that it kept track of which cogs you had defeated during a fight and when you danced (just the little dance if not on final fight) it evaluated that list of cogs vs. recovery and merit criteria. There was essentially a bug that it did not clear the list of cogs until the final fight in a bldg or the factory.

Because of this, if you met a big cheese on the 1st floor yet saw no more cheese in the building, you could get one cheese or ice cream at the end of every floor. Also, on tasks where you don't generally get it in the 1st try, you could not get the platform shoes on the 1st floor, yet get them on the 2nd or 3rd floor. The people that are saying you get it on the next floor were seeing this behavior.

The merits were basically the same thing. It kept track of the cogs you killed and recredited them for you after every little dance. So for the cogs in the 1st fight, you could get credit up to 10 more time in the factory. If the bug was still there, you could still get a lot of merits in the downgraded factory as the key thing is not the size of the cogs, but the number of fights.

So I would request somebody check how many merits they get in the factory now after tallying up all the cogs you fight. I am guessing that now, you get the total of all the levels divided by 2, no matter how many fights or what sequence you use.

Also, it would be interesting to know about recovery task success. Check after each dance and then when you get out of the bldg check again. I would be very interested to see if anyone can get more than one item per needed cog faced, which was entirely possible before but I am guessing is not now.

Okay, thought this was my not-so-shabby math skills going down the drain, but I guess not. Whew!

Was in 4-Sell DDL tonight, had 0 of 10 Holly ice cream cones before goin' in. At end of building, I suddenly had 6 and I sure didn't kill 6 Hollys in there (methinks it was 3). Is this new? Pretty sure it happened 2-3 days ago, too.

I just found out about farming a couple of weeks ago. I always camped, but never knew about leaving early and still getting stuff (how in the world did I miss that?!). I've tried it a few times now (any before Jan 14? Dunno.), and it seemed like it only worked when I was able to FINISH the task during that building.

Does it matter if you Run or let the elevator time just lapse? Before these changes did finishing the task have anything to do with it?

that would definatly explain why if you did the silos before most of the lower level cogs, you would get more merits for the full run. after each dance on the lower floors it would then re-count the merits earned from the silos. so what you are trying to say is that getting 500 merits was a bug and you were only supposed to get meerly 100 or so? Dosen't seem fair seeing as how there are 5500 merits to get!

well, while i was working on my impercenation of Flippy, I took him into a three story building with a task to recover gears from level 3+ cogs, i and the other toons all died, but much to my surprise when i landed back in the playground sad, i had recovered all 10! By the way, i started off with 0.

This has been in the game a while now. It may have been in the game pre-13.x.

I did the factory yesterday on Test for merits, I had only needed 40. I did notice that you can no longer check the book to see how the merits are being added. The book did not show any merits at all after each room until I had defeated the center silo, then I received the 40 merits I needed.

Someone with a high level cog suit would have to try the different routes and then post what they do find regarding merits.

I can't decide if I should be happy or frustrated with reaching my Hollywood 50 goal on Open the night before the changes were made to Test!
