New Influx of Testers, Why?

Wow! After logging on last night, I was shocked to see so many people logged onto test. Must have been 120+ people. Somewhat reminiscent of the old days on LE when the game was swamped with 30 or 40 people on a server!

My questions about this are geared toward those of you involved in the software development business or those that are frequent testers of software.

I don’t recall such a huge number of people accepted to the test servers last November/December prior to CogHQ. Seems to be a philosophical change by Disney allowing this latest influx of testers. Is this an attempt to maintain a sufficient critical mass on test after doodles move to the open servers (hopefully avoiding a mass exodus of toons from test after CogHQ was added to the game)? Since there has been a significant increase of people logged onto the open servers that past two months, is it as simple as recruiting a certain percentage of open users to play on the test servers? Has Disney decided that 10 to 20 people on the test servers was not a realistic environment to test their software?

I agree. I cannot ever remember seeing this many people. And, I think that your theory of mass exodus is right on target. I remember after Sell HQ opened nobody was on test. What I see happening is a lot of the new testers trying very hard to get jelly beans for purchasing of their doodles! I hope that they stick around when the release goes to open!

Well it's out on open as of the last update!!

Today, we will see how those new testers react and see whether they migrate back to open to purchase the more desireable doodles from DDL. I would imagine that most would want to stick around and build a VP ready toon for the impending release of a new CogHQ to test. I don't think Disney would add this many more testers if they were not planning to get us a build in the very near future.

I'm not really impressed with Doodles. My test toon just finished DD and will be working to be Maxed. I will be Known as Solid Squirrlee as soon as my name is aproved. I also hope the new test toons work their gags and build up to VP ready toons....just in case a new HQ arrives in test. I fear that many of the new testers are only in test to see the new content. I had felt the low # of testers was a bad move on Disney's part and hope they keep the amount of active test toons up in test. I will be scratching and clawing to get my new lure up to the blue magnet so I can solo buildings because I don't understand why toons in test are filling both districts. It would make more sense to me if we all joined in one district so we have a chance to help each other in buildings. If I see more than 2 toons on a street I'm shocked,I waited close to 30 mins to find someone to help with a 2 story build. I went in 3 story with a 60+ laffer just because she needed Loan Sharks...Boy did I wish she was around for my 2 story. I had the feather Tune up and 26 laff but she seemed happy to have me with her in that 3 story!
