Freezing up - a different perspective

To keep from anyone thinking I am singling them out, I am posting this on a separate thread.

Yesterday I was on a medium course with a sf. Halfway through the course, the game stopped responding. Well, it was responding, GOLF wasn't responding. We sat and chatted for a while, before finally agreeing to just leave (we had both gotten holes in one, and were loathe to lose them)

We both sent in bug reports, got back in game, went in again, and proceeded to crash as the cart went through the tunnel.

Sent in bug reports again, got back on, and played normally for a while.

No one alt f4'd on us. No one left due to a crash or a disconnect. It was just two of us, and we both experienced the same thing.

Today, I was on a hard course with 3 other non-sf. It was a close game, and on tee 5, golf stopped responding. 3 of us were sending out hello's, that's spooky, etc. Finally, one of the responsive toons decided to leave. The game began responding again, only to stop responding after the next toons' turn. We waited quite a long time, before that toon, too, decided to leave. After she left, the toon who heretofore had not said a word had a turn. It took quite a long time for him to aim, and when he finally did it was a dud of a shot. As soon as he hit the ball, the game AGAIN stopped responding.

In other words, the game stopped responding BEFORE anyone left, eventually started responding when someone DID leave, only to stop responding again as soon as the next toon took their turn.

No one left because of bad sportsmanship.

Now, I am not saying that isn't happening. There ARE some out there who really want to max their test toons ASAP whenever something new comes out. There ARE new toons to test who are more used to open's cut throat attitude.

What I AM saying, though, is that these bugs/crashes/whatever ARE HAPPENING even when someone hasn't left the course.

Report it. That's what we have the privelege of test for, no other reason but to find and report bugs so they can be fixed.

Yes, making sure that the final product is ok is part of testing too... had we actually had more toons seriously testing fishing when it first came out we wouldn't have gone so many months with the OKC and several others literally impossible to catch. But please remember, not all computers are created the same. Not all internet connections are created the same. Some computers/connections might be having problems that yours isn't having. Just because you aren't having a bug happen to you, doesn't mean no one else is having it.

(And yes, just because I haven't been ditched due to sour grapes doesn't mean THAT isn't happening as well - but look at it this way, if these toons hadn't done this on test, it would have made it to open with no one the wiser. Think of the headache THAT would have been!)

Well said Kehawin. This is the time where we need to report everything, even if it seems minor. The fact that we all have different computers and different connections is good because hopefully it finds the bugs that will be present on open, where the same it true.

There will always be bad sports, let em alt out, it just makes them look childish. I've had people alt out and it has not affected me. I'm sorry that for some people when an alt happens it freezes them, but again, please report it. You don't always know if it's an alt or a disco.

Kehawin, THANK YOU!!! I just made a post along these lines on the other thread.

People, this is test, where new stuff comes for the bugs to be removed. Actually, IMO we should be grateful that people ARE ditching, so we can report the freezes to TT and they can fix that issue. If you think people are ditching now, on TEST of all places , you know it will happen even more so on open!! I know it's a pain to submit reports over and over and over, but it's what we're there for. We've been complaining that they sent the last few big things to open without fully debugging it. I can't help wondering if more reports would have helped. Seems they certainly wouldn't have hurt. Whether it was an alt or a disco, TT will be able to tell and can work on fixing it if they know it's still happening.

That's happened to me too. It seems that the game DOES hang if someone ditches, and then it starts working again after someone else ditches. Then after one stroke it crashes again.

When our friend got disconnected, my toon had just finished a hole and he kept doing the "victory grimace" over and over, so I took this screenshot before we alt f4ed away.
