Talking Strategy ideas for battle with the BOSS cog!

I was thinking about strategy after a battle with the BOSS cog (We lost!, but I was the last one left)

This would have to be planned out before the battle.

1. It would be great if every one was a secret friend.
2. I think the toons should break up into two teams of four.
3. Then each person should have a toonup partner.
3. At the beginning, everyone should attack, but then one 4 person team should break off for toon ups.
4. The partners on the team that is tooning up should toon each other up with thrown pies.
5. The toon being thrown at should jump on each throw to ensure getting hit.
6. Then the teams should rotate out.
7. Perhaps a team captain could be designated to call the toon up timeout.
8. While tooning up, also refresh your pie supply.

Other tips that I think would work:
Throw at the body of the cog to get the best results.
Pressing the INS key throws a pie.

Notes:
1. The battle with the BOSS Cog is a free form battle.
2. You can run around and lob pies at the cog.
3. This battle happens after all of the other cogs are defeated in a traditional 4 toon on 4 cog style battle.
4. The only weapons for the battle with the BOSS Cog are pies.
5. Pies can be used to toon up each other for 1 laff point.
6. Up to twenty pies at a time can be obtained by jumping under the shop keepers cage.
7. You can run back to the shop keeper to get more pies during the battle.
8. Most importantly, the object is to hit the BOSS cog and knock it back until it falls over the edge.
9. I think jumping when the boss cog jumps will keep you from loosing any laff. (I am not sure on this one)

What do you think?

Altho, i have yet to get this phase in cog hq, I think what you are suggesting is great. I don't know if the strategy you have set forth is workable (cause I haven't even been up there), however, just the concept of getting together and making a plan is great.

Perhaps the groups/clans forum would come in handy with this, or popping into the IRC and making sure everyone is on the same page instead of all that chatting between 8 in the hole in hq.

Then perhaps posting certain plans that work and then naming them. Then when 8 are together they can say "lets do plan B" kind of thing. That is if, ppl want to share their strategies with others ofcourse.

good idea tho

Yes. the pies HEAL toons. The shopkeeper that you are trying to rescue actually tells you this if you look on the screen.

Great ideas Jake -- I just have to build my suit back up again now! <grin>

Cheers!

Since theres 2 threads , both with good ideas . we will get this in no time .

I think the idea of having toonup toons hang back is a good one , but maybe instead of having a partner , just have 4 attack and 4 heal the others ?

We re all learning as we go , so Im sure next time will be even better

Due to the nature of the combat, it makes sense having people pair off and toon each other up and then re-enter the fray!

That way there is control over where a toon is for toonup purposes. We tried the "just try to toon others up while they are fighting" thing but it really didn't work.

IMHO, pairing off makes the most sense...That way there is always a pair fighting the Boss!

Like I said, I haven't been up there yet but the reason I think pairing off would work well is that way you don't have any confusion over who is doing toon up to who.

Picking gags in a high stress battle results in many errors. Sometimes 2 ppl will pick the same person and not have enough time to switch over to someone else. By being in pairs, there will be no toonup errors.

I think you've misunderstood the context -- we're not talking about normal battle here! We're talking about the new battle method with the Boss.

1. Toons jump underneath the captured Shopkeeper

2. Toons get 20 cream pies

3. Toons have to throw the pies in FREEFORM BATTLE at the Boss
(this is not the structured battle you are used to, imagine running around normally and using the INS key to throw)

4. If a toon throws a cream pie and hits another toon they get a +1 toonup

This is what we're talking about! Normal battle behaviour we have down to an art/science! <grin> It's the new battle mechanism against the Sellbot VP.

I'll try to take some video next time I'm up there. Anyone have space/bandwidth that I can post some WMV files to?
