Yes... this has happened to all of us I'm sure. I was one that was very reluctant to start SF (many years ago now), I was quite happy with the way it was. But then all the various CogHQ starting coming out and having SF makes this soooo much easier. So having SF is really just another level in the progression of the game. When you have a few friends that you like to work with, the ability to simply tell each other how many merits/bux etc you still need and when you will have time to do the boss battle after everyone is ready is extremely nice. If you don't have SF at this point you will find yourself doing ALOT of runs with randoms, and trust me... that will test anyones patience!!! lol
Just like you narrow down the normal friends you can do the same with SF. This is a normal progression and you will find some really great people out there with a bit of patience ![]() Of course theres nothing that says you have to have SF... thats what is great about this game. Play the way that is fun for you ![]() |

Two of my oldest regular friends became SF, and they are just as wonderful as I thought they would be.
But, I have another friend who sometimes behaved oddly. When we became SF, it got worse. I haven't X'd her yet, but I definately don't seek her out to do things. She hasn't been rude, but we would never be friends in RL as we are just not compatible. She is never one I ping for company. She's on the shortlist to go when I have more ATTA friends to add to my list. I have a hard time x'ing toons I have been friends with for years. |

Thats happened to me so many times! When I first started sfing people I was still in middle school, keep in mind I've been playing for a really long time, and wanted to friend people around my age. All the friends I had enjoyed for so many months turned out to be adults and boy did that make me disapointed. I hung out with adults for some time but I never realized how much I wasnt enjoying myself. I played toontown for the game and it got boring and then eventually with time I friended some people my age and some really cool adults, who to tell you the truth are a lot more fun than some of my sfs around my age, and now its been good. Every friend I have now, besides 1 or 2, are all secret friends and majority of them I really enjoy. Although, if anyone really gets THAT annoying I will x them, I just cant stand being annoyed and I cant stand even more when I let the person know I'm xing them and they beg me not to.

it hasnt happened to me yet, but sometimes i wish my regular toon friends would be sfs.none of them figured out the code, so im stuck with helping them all the time and with regular chat. i feel really bad about it, especially when im with my sfs and we start chatting. usually i try not to be around my sfs when im with them, but it makes me feel even worse. if they were my sfs, then TT would be so much easier.

I rescently became sf's with two of the oldest friends on my list. I always loved playing with them, and luckily I still do. As with Margaret, they turned out to be as wonderfull as I thought they were. I have made quiet a few really good friends through sf chat, and I have become friends with them in the real world also. I am very glad I finally figured out how to make SF's.
Though I am a softy when people ask to be my friends, and have made the quick, never really met you before sf toons. I have been disappointed in them quiet often. But eventually I never play with them again, and the guilt I feel about x'ing them is eased. |

I have had this too. The bad language makes me feel weird. Some of my sfs tend to cuss a lot, and I always am worried that I will be banned for this. They just txt tlk it. If you sf ppl on TTC, life is good. I always look around at people's post. Sometimes this helps by telling who they are

I became SFs with a toon who was helping me run buildings throughout the day and even now, she's been awesome. Though, I became SFs with two other toons and some of the stuff they were doing/saying made me uncomfortable, so when they logged off, I x-ed them. I'd like to enjoy playing TT hassle free!

I have had this experience as well and really don't like to SF anyone unless one of my friends know them. Other times I will make Chanty SF them first, and "screen" them (I know you love doing this Kip). After a few weeks/months if we are still playing with that person then I will SF them.
I have found that through speedchat and playing strategies, you develop a certain impression/opinion of the person running the toon. Getting to know them through SF does not always prove beneficial, and more times than not they end up being someone you really didn't want to know any better. I prefer to keep the anonymity and intrigue. That being said, I have others that I have SF'd after being friends for a long time and those are now my favorite people (BOBBY!!!!! if it weren't for you I wouldn't be here, and thanks to Leeann for constantly Xing me )Just as in life, everything is a gamble. My usually pessimistic self is turning optimistic, so I say SF them. If they turn out to be someone you don't like, well we all know what that cute little X button is for. If you're Leeann, you know it all to well. (you know I'll never let that go) ![]() |
