Lure Question

Do you you get more skill points when there is a trap underneath the cogs, and then you lure, than when you just lure it without a trap?

You only earn points for the gags you actually throw out there. So, if you used Lure after another toon uses Trap... Provided that the cog is successfully Lured, you will earn credit for your Lure, and the other toon earns credit for Trap.

In the case that you Trap, and then next round you Lure... you will earn credit for Trap as well as for Lure.

Also, an interesting note: If you Lure and it works... do not bother letting the Lure run out (clicking pass until the cog steps back). If you try this method and Lure again, you do not earn credit for another Lure. The way to earn more credit is to have the cog actualyl damaged - so have a friend attack the cogs (or do so yourself the next round... bike horns and squirting flowers work well for this if you are trying to squeeze out the most amounts of Lures you can try, as they deal only 4 damage and take forEVER to kill the cogs)

In any case, neither will you actually earn more points for your LURE due to a trap being present... nor will you earn more Trap credit for having cogs Lured into it (I mean in excess of the Trap gag level and any multipliers in effect...). And, of course, the trapper earns no experience until a cog is actually lured into the trap.

Hope this helps!

OMG!!!! That explains the Gag camping fiascos! We were doing that! One toon was building toon up, so we kept letting lure run out for the other who was building lure. We diodn't want to kill the cogs so we just kept passing. This would be why the Lure building toon had such poor results! Thanks! A VERY IMPORTANT point!
WOW! You can teach an old toon new tricks! Kitty Litter, you rock!

Hee hee, I learned that lesson the hard way too, a while back.

And most players already know this but it's probably worth mentioning here that a Trap makes the Lure more effective (the Lure is less likely to miss). Similar to how a Drop is less likely to miss if someone else "stuns" the cog first with throw, squirt or sound.

To be honest, I think Trap functions EXACTLY as a stun - it's 100% accurate and I think it makes EVERY gag more likely to hit during the round it was deployed. So, if you have Trap and are trying to help another toon train up, go ahead and throw one out there... let the other toon pop off his gags on the cog (hopefully not killing it, since we are talking about milking) - and then Lure the cog for the killing blow.

I'm not saying that having a trap out will increase chances for the entire battle though - just the first round you put it there.

Also, since we're now including trap in the conversation (lol, my fault hehe) - I've been told a long time ago (and verified for myself) that the Trap Door gag will actually tell you if a Lure picked that same round is going to hit. The door image has one "latch" on one side, and two "hinges" on the opposite side. If those hinges are on the right side (from toon's viewpoint), the Lure is going to hit. After it gets put down, it's no longer an indicator. Not that it helps strategy at all, being that all the gags have been picked for the round, but it's kinda neat.

In this case...where you want to camp lure & toon up, your best bet would be the following:

Someone lures, the other person uses sound to set them back....then watch the toon up opportunities! This is the only case where it's great to use sound/lure combo. The key is: stock up on low level sound gags & use them FIRST. Basically kill 'em slowly. On the lower floors use all the sound gags you can. If you guys get hit hard, then lure them in & toon everyone up. Once they're all tooned up....you're set to go again. Find yourself a 2-3 story if it's just two of you...a 5 story if 4 of you....saving your biggest gags for up top & you should be set.

Hehehe -

I recently had a small discussion regarding gag training efficiency. I like to solo a lot, and because of that I find it a BIT faster to train one gag at a time. I usually hit up a moderately-populated server, go to Donald's Dock/Barnacle Boulevard, and hit as many 3-stories as I can. I blast through the first floor and start training on level 2. This method only works well if you have a decent amount of Laff though. Also, for gags up to level 3, I usually just train them right on the street (still only for soloing) because it's generally faster to regag that way and the risk of going sad (big time waster) is much lower.

Bunny's posted method is the preferred way for teams though, and it works EXTREMELY well with a good group (SFs make it even easier).

Arrow Top Floor Camping!!

We did this in the great Hollywood invasion...4 players. We each had a gag we were working Lure,Trap,Drop and Tune up! We did what we called a kissing party on the top floor. We would kill off all but one cog and not attack him till all of us hit max exp pts on tune up (200)!! We spent along time in each building doing it...but 3 players in the team finished maxing thier toons on that weekend my toon the lowest of the group maxed all but trap and tune up did manage to get the final gags in both

Quicksand telegraphs too - if you look, the quicksand will either have a flat side or a side with a divot toward the cog. If the divot is pointing away from the cog, the lure on that turn is going to hit. If the divot is pointing away from the cog, it's a miss (or it indicates that no lure was used that turn)
