For New Shoppers Only!

Hi there! Welcome to sos card shopping. I've meant to do this post forever but I guess I shop too much. I would just like to mention a few things to expect while shopping with this group. First the rewards are great with all the great cards you will end up with.(you can brag to your friends that you have 100 sos cards...lol). But even better than the cards will be some of the friends you can make while shopping.
I would like to give you a heads up on some of the problems you will run into while shopping with the group. Until you can recognize the sos toons on your own expect some mistakes to occur. There will be run calls that are wrong and sometimes no one will call run or stay. So don't be too upset if this happens to you, most of us have either gone sad once or had to fight the first cogs alone. The best way to keep from this happening to you is go look at the sos toons you are saving, not just their picture but go to their shop in tt and see up close what they look like. toontask lists where their hangouts are.(just a note...you can still x or alt out when the cage drops for the close up look at the sos toon).
Also there will be times when the elevator loading won't suit you as most can tell you. The shoppers sometimes have ran as a small group for hours and then when it gets crowded they really don't like to split. So don't get your feeling hurt as many do, its just the way it is.
There are also some things you shouldnt do while shopping. Glitching is frowned on by the group and usually will make someone mad. Its also a good idea to get rid of any sos cards you dont want before you start shopping, it just makes sure you dont miss any good cards.
I'm sure as i ramble on here ive missed somethings you need to know but im sure someone will bring them up....lol
On a personal note if one of my toons tease you with the built in tt phrases, please don't be too thin skinned and just say please dont brother me. I do love to say "are you new here" and "have you been here before" and "you are a genius" and many times it is taken way too serious. The most important thing you should get from shopping is not hurt feeling but some great friends as i said before.......Good Luck Shopping....Bob

I dont think i did a very good job explaining that the things that do happen with the elevator loading and the groups not splitting are not what the TCB stands for. These things are the exception not the rule. I just dont want any new shoppers being discouraged if they run into one bad trip. As a group I dont think you will find anyone quicker to help you than the tcb. As has been said here many times all are welcome, just get your merits and your gags and saddle up!....bob

What is the significance of this sentence?

If they dont like to split, then maybe they shouldn't be shopping in a guild. A guild is setup to help everyone in the group, not just certain individuals. That is the main reason for having a guild, so that many people can feel as if they belong to something. This idea of splitting and moving to another district because you can't go on the run with your friends is not a good idea. A huge problem here.

but hopefully that wouldnt be the case! were here to work together and get 5*sos cards for everyone wanting them. and i dont think toons should be left behind because other toons really dont want to split up!!

I agree its not what should happen, but this was said for new shoppers to expect. This post was not to correct or address problems with how we shop. It was after ive had some friends new to shopping have issues with some of the situations that we run into that i posted this.... But i will add that many times if not for the small group of toons that shop "too much" that many singles wouldnt be able to enjoy shopping during the off peak times. In the two months that ive shopped ive tried to do both, runs in bouncytown and move to districts that stay for sound. Since we are not all sf's many times im sure its misunderstood why we leave. I feel that i owe the group for getting me as far in the sos cards as I am, so I plan to shop many more times in bouncytown. .......bob

I agree too, I will leave out one of my toons as well. Why be greedy and keep a new potential member from being happy with this guild? I also think that groups should split up to help singles in on the fun.

Im not trying to start an argument, but why should anyone be expecting to be left behind because a certain group does not want to split up? No one, regardless of who they are, should experience this. If a group is shopping in TCB district(s), then anyone and everyone is supposed be welcomed. If a group wants to do their own thing, and it leads to disappointing just one member, then they should not shop in a TCB district.

We should just make it that NO ONE SHOULD BE LEFT BEHIND!

Thanks Bob

First off, let me say thanks to Bob for posting this. I am reasonably new to shopping, and some of these things, especially the splitting of groups when there are 9 toons, seemed a confusing experience when I was getting started.

One comment I will make about splitting groups is that new people need to be sensitive to the gags available to different toons, especially in small runs. For example, my toon does not have toon-up. This makes him a less-than-ideal companion on a 4- or 5-toon load, due to the fact that I have to rely on my rocks-for-brains maxed doodle to toon up the other person. It can also be an issue if there are toons without lure. So understand that there may be other factors involved in trying to split a larger group, especially with the limited selection of speedchat phrases provided by TT.

I also have a suggestion for helping people get used to identifying the toons. Within Windows XP, there is a tool for those with vision problems that can help. It is located under Start/All Programs/Accessories/Accessibility/Magnifier. You can play with the settings, but I have TT running in windowed mode with the magnifier window set up next to the TT window set at 5X magnification centered on the mouse pointer. When the initial shot of the toon shopkeeper is shown, I simply point to the toon's name and a magnified view shows up in the window. Due to TT's anti-aliasing (if you don't know what that is, don't worry), some of the names are still challenging to read, but it can still help you recognize them more quickly.

Oh, and Bob, I forgive ya for mocking my lack of toon-up.

Wow, I normally don't have a problem with seeing anything but I'm sure this will help a lot of people. It's also fun to play with hehe. I'll try it out through curiosity, I just tried it with TTC, and it was quick and easy to use.

Thanks,
Lgz

I think we need to work together then, as an sos shopping team to make SURE that new toons don't have to expect this.

Hmmm its good but maybe check the sos shopper rules to make sure your facts are 100% accurate. Also, make your sentences a bit clearer so there are no misscomunications.

Other than that its great
