Forced Server Update / Move

EDIT: Read the date before replying to this stuff, this goes back to February 2006, it's ancient history!

Our server is currently hosted by a company called Digital Hosting Service, this company went broke. They sold all their servers to a company called Jag Wire Hosting, which is fine and dandy appart from the fact they want to charge us $405USD per month for the server that we are currently paying $188USD per month.

The new server will be an Dual AMD Opteron 246, with 2gig of ram ECC DDR, 2x 160gig sata drive mysql running off second drive instead of RAID.

The server will be hosted with Layeredtech which is a company that has been around for a long time and looks as if it will stay around unlike the old DHS company we are/were with.

The new server is costing us $249/m and a $19 setup fee. Yes it is a slight jump ($60~) but it is the cheapest we could find with the reliability we are looking for.

We have the old server until the 15th so the move has to be done before then, so you may need have some ups and downs between now and then.

To clear things up, no you never will have to pay to visit this site or use the forums. You will have to donate to get special features while using the forums, but actually using hte forums will be forever free.

I didn't ask for donations but they will be helpful for next months bill. I have paid for the first months but its month to month

Well, I've got some money right now, and am still saving up. Hopefully soon I will be able to buy a year's signature subscription to help out some. Sorry that you have to pay more for this new server, hopefully it will be more steady as far as the server staying with the same company.

I'd love to, but since im in Australia i can't host it in my house, and since i'd have to pay for a COLO and for the Server itself, its more like $60/m for the bandwidth plus $2000-3000 for the server.

Ack! I didn't think about that! Is all the data going to be erased? Like our post counts and User Data?

Let's look at the positive side of this...erm...thinking...slow reflexes...can't think of anything...making up a lie...GOT IT! It will be a new adventure and challenge for us TTCers But this is a horrible thing to happen, and I do not want my account information to be deleted >.< But then again, we'll all be family, right?
