Changes to New User moderation

I'm trying something here to speed up the moderation of new users, while improving protection from bad users.

The "Registered" usergroup, where new users wind up when they get moderated, now has all their posts moderated. That means there will be more work for the mods who deal with those posts.

We'll treat this like a probationary period. On a regular basis, say every week or two, we will move the Registered users who have not caused any trouble to the new "Registered+" group. This new group is set up the way the "Registered" used to be, with no moderation of posts.

If this works out, I'll set up VMKf the same.

So just to be sure, when a new user joins all their posts have to be apporved by a mod first? Then after a while they can post, and their post shows up right when they post it?

it's a very good solution, but there's one problem. A user could wait the period out, until he ges moved to Registered+, and then cause trouble. There's no mod-eration over their posts anymore so then they striike.

Double "threading" rcv?

On topic: Honestly I don't see any menace in posts/threads of new users. What dictated ur decision?
Plus what we saw today, half hour ago - is an awfull spam of a non G rated member's name and other garbage names from one user who was keep multy-registering, and the site was totally unprotected, for at least an hour (if not more)

Todays/tonights incident I think strongly showed the weak point of TTC - and its there where the changes should b done in my opinion

Yeah, but I think this is mainly in case the user joins and doesn't know the rules, and ends up posting something they didn't know they shouldn't post.

Well, I'm assuming even with this change user names will still show up no matter what group they are in. Maybe considering a probationary name would be an idea. Like Toon1234 or sumthing until a mod can approve the name. Sorta like what toontown does with naming.
