Problem with avatar

I'm trying to upload this image as an avatar, but when I click "Submit", I get an error message saying "This JPEG image has the incorrect file extension."

It was too large a file size. Both it's dimensions (100x100 pixels) and overall file size (34,000 bytes) was too large. I uploaded and let it resize it. This reduced it down to our 64x64 pixels max for avatars and reduced it's file size to the allowable size.
