Idea for Profiles:

[The Monkey Man]

Where it says 'Referrals: *number*' on someone's profile, you could have a 'Mentions: *number*' underneath, and the number will say how many times the member's name has been said on the forums. Here's an example:

Referrals: 5
Mentions: 17

Does anyone like my idea? If so, please post!
The mods and/or admins don't have to use it if they don't want to, this is just an idea.

That could easily turn into spam. People would do this this this this this this this this this this this this this this this this this this over and over to get their mentions up.

No, that isn't what I meant. I meant how many times mentioned by other members.

And if they did that, they'd get their post edited/removed for spamming, wouldn't they? So their mentions would get lower and lower and lower.

I know the by other members part, but people could pm a message like this:

Hey Friend!

Please try to mention my name in every single post you make, and I'll do the same for you.

Then Friend could post like this:

Here is my contest entry!

Or Friend could post like this:

Great story! I'll have to tell my friend toonenoughaustin about this!

Or Friend could post like this:

Sounds a lot like favoritism to me, spam posts mentioning names of friends and other problems - not to mention more work for the mods who have enough to do already.

Doubt we'll be going with this suggestion. Though profiles will be getting a major update soon as we update vB which should happen in the next couple days. I won't ruin the surprise, but I'm some of you will really like all the changes.
