Well, thats just how some people are. I usually always have correct spelling and grammar. Now, I spell out things like "PM" to "Private Message" etc.
I try my best to do this so members can fully understand what I mean. |

Personally, I think people who ignore that are careless, lazy, and not neat. It really annoys me. So, saying this to you: People who DONT use grammar are uptight.

I usually post like this. Just to mix in. Mods delete this thread, someone. I was just trying to say for all the newer members or people who post like 'sk8' and stuff, everyone always makes about ten posts all like "Please use correct grammar" or "English Please". And i'm trying to say that this is a forum. Anyway, mods please delete, or can someone Private Message a mod, i'm too lazy.

Forums are meant for good grammar. These posts are read, over and over for days after they are posted. Talking in TT is different because I am trying to speak quickly and grammar is not important there. I don't see anyone as "personality-less" or "geeks" because forums are a place for sharing information and opinions. You don't need to use chatspeak to have personality.

I used to be a regular on a forum that was well-respected in it's community, but not large. Tons of great stuff came from the users there for the game they covered. But some of the users there constantly took it upon themselves to jump on new users who posted with less than perfect grammar and spelling. What really burned me was that those same users were too gutless to do the same to the established regulars. I eventually quit going to that site, partly because the regulars couldn't see that they had become little more than bullies. No, we are not "http://www.perfectposting.com/", nor do we want to be. Neither do we want to see posts that look like they were made by a room full of monkeys. The internet has enough of that already. I expect that if most people see that most of the posts here are well put-together, they will get the idea to do the same themselves. Kid Bugs |

Wow, this is hilarious. First off, just because other's disagree with you, is no reason to make up excuses, since you clearly MADE this thread talking about it.
Something a very good friend always told me, think before you post. Maybe you should too, don't lie just because all of us disagree, you are allowed to your opinion, even if everyone elses opinion is the opposite. Hmph, I lost all my respect for you with the lie. .:-Cython-:. |

For me, good grammar shows maturity level and seriousness, depending.
If someone's having an argument and talking like, "wellz u no wat u cn jst be a lozer" etc., then there's no way I'm going to take them seriously. Also, I think of them more as children(not that it's a bad thing). People with good grammar I feel more "threatened" by I guess you could say, if they get in an argument with me and are totally perfect grammar, the intensity of their post increases compared to "l337 speak" |

i feel that if people are being way too sloppy like the poster above posted, well then I dont take them that serious either. if they r like this: i was on TT and saw queen crunchywoof there wit u, then idc. it could be even more sloppy, i just cant think right now.

Good grammar and spelling aren't bad things; they're good. ;D |

I can handle a few abbreviations and/or mistakes: it should be pretty informal here.
But if I can't understand it due to the errors, or if it's written in texting language (all abbreviated), I move on. So, if you don't want me to read something you posted, go ahead and be sloppy and/or type in a language other than English. I teach technical writing to college students, and some of the writing I see is truly pathetic. Good writing is a discipline. |
