Just Wondering

There was a thread that was deleted a few days ago. I guess Trolling was the reason. I might add I did not contribute anything to this post!

Now I'm just wondering why someone would make up false information in their profile. This is not a child, the persons name makes it clear they are an Adult. Instead of making up information such as this, why not go out and actually do it? A feeble attempt at making yourself look good, just makes you look bad! The reason I know it is false information is the person has never been seen, the name copied from a well known player, but the Doodles name does not exist on TT!

Maybe this Adult would like to explain this? Maybe not! But really, I find it pretty petty and childish!

And if any Mod's can answer me this, is there no rule to placing false information in your profile?

I saw the same thing and was like....huh? She has a well known name of a black cat in her signature. I was also having trouble figuring this out.

Yes, I think there was some trolling.And yes, it's childish.I don't kno y they do it.As u can tell by mine, I don't have 120 laffs with all gags.I hate lying(makes me twitch 0.o) and I think ppl will just yell at u.
So plz, if u are one, plz discontinue flase info and put real ones.(I don't see my doodle named Shadow or Hobbes II do u? XDAltho those are kool names )

I'm not sure which thread you are talking about, but if you give me a title or who original posted it, I can try to find what happened to it.

Granted, a certain amount of misinformation in user profiles is allowed because we don't allow personal info to be given out. Though what you are discussing sounds like something different from the average user altering info to protect themselves. Depending on the nature of the info, it could break several of our policies or at the very least, the intent of our policies to protect our users. I believe impersonation policy or trolling might best suit this nature, but I'd have to look at it to be sure. If you want to PM myself or another mod, we'd be happy to investigate any problems of this nature.

Nick doesn't list any toons. He may have had some odd stuff up while he was testing the new profiles, but he has cleared that.

Since when is your observation of something required to validate its' existence?

I do not recall agreeing that everything contained within my signature shall be 100% factual. If I really really want my toon to have 119 laffs, but he/she does not have them yet but I claim he/she has them anyway; am I really breaking a rule in so doing?

Perhaps there was a typo in the Doodle name, or they were just simply mistaken about it.

If an action is petty and childish; what does that say of the person offended by it?

If a person is entering non-factual information to participate in the spirit of the ROLE PLAYING nature of the game, I can see no problem.
I'm quite sure that nobody actually believes that Tarzan of the Geese is really a goose. He is quite obviously a duck!

If someone lies for ill purpose, for instance to deceive or to gather undeserved benefit, then that is certainly wrong.

We're not about to verify everything that people list in their profiles or posts. People should consider the source, before accepting anything as fact.

Well this brings up an interesting point: Who is to decide what the purpose is/was?

Suppose I really like/liked a song but it was from a long time ago and I sort of just forgot about it over the years. Now suppose I saw a toon named after this song and [cue sappy music] it brought back cherished and dear memories and it inspired me to make a toon and likewise name it.

In that scenario, the purpose is clear: It is a memorial to good times I once had.

Now suppose that the person who had inspired this memory saw my toon around TT and, through ignorance of the true inspiration of the naming, assumed it was created purely to spite her. Now suppose this person came on here and created a thread and in this thread proceeded to slander me and my toon by name (by virtue of stating the name she felt was copied) by saying that the sole purpose of my choice of names was to either attack her or to impersonate her, and how small and pathetic I must be for having done so.

The above happened (**Edit** Except that it's not me who has the name/names that were the subject of that thread). Was that thread not in violation of the most sacred of rules here? No naming toons in a negative way! Of course it was, yet that thread survived for weeks.

I'm wondering where all this righteous indignation was when this happened...or I guess it was just OK then because she is a friend of the OP.

All I have to say is... WHO CARES?! Why would you? Jealousy? Envy? I for one really could care less about the information in a person's profile, much less whether or not it is factual information or not.

The post should have been reported with an adequate description of why it was reported...
At that point a mod would have at least reviewed the situation.

That said, DIsney doesn't have an issue with duplicate names, thus what are we to do about duplicate names in signatures / profiles.

Well I think we should just all be as honest as we can be. And since i'm gona try and be completley honest ummmmm Little Pickleglop ( my toon) is soooo ugly! But i love what i ddi to his house. Atually i havent been on tt for like 3 months and its driving me crazy! I miss tt and all my freinds Btw my house still has the holloween theme stuff thats how long i havent played!!
