What the heck is a Bump? Sometimes on a thread, the creator of the thread rights "Bump" or "bumping up thread". what does this mean?

I think I know: No one respondes so your thread starts getting pushed off onto page 2, so the guy rights BUMP to get his thread back at top? So ppl can look at it.

Tell me if I'm right

My
Post (Notice the fir letters of that sentance) It is used for getting the thread higher in the list of threads.
