Posts vanishing in thin air for no real reason...

When I took my 3 day break from TTC,I looked at my See all posts thing and my jaw fell open.
15% of my posts had pointlessly vanished!
It seemed like it was never posted.
I havn't cussed since...since...I can't recall.
No drugs or something in em...
none of that stuff!

And for some reason,Words in my posts have been changed without even a edit bar.

hmmm..that's odd. Maybe you should PM nick or the mods.

Even though you may not have had anything wrong with your posts, sometimes a whole thread is deleted for various reasons. If you had posted in a thread that had to be deleted, then your post count will go down. This is one of the biggest reasons why post count doesn't really matter.

Why not just take it off...saves a lot of problems and can cut down on the spamming.
It's really a silly option to not hide because members judge each other ( and mods ie. most mods have less posts than members) just by post count. And the opposite, you get accused of being a spammer for having a large post count.
Can't really see much good in it showing here.

As Batleth said, it may not be your fault at all why a thread was deleted. Sometimes it's just easier to remove the WHOLE thing than to edit a thread 20 times.

Could this be in the Polls section or Downloads forum of this site? If so, I would suggest reading this: Help! I Can't See My Poll! Where'd it Go??????

Even though the thread is still intact, most likely you're responding to a post or poll that's moderated. If this is the case, you may not see your post for a day or two until a moderator has a chance to let it go through. You may see that other people have responded to it but your post is missing. Give it a day or two to pop up.

ok..that helped me a bit too if that ever happens...

but also, i think that if a mod deletes a post that some one made, the poster should get a PM telling them why or at least alert them so people can stop making threads like this. That would work...

If it is your thread or post that got removed, we do send out a PMed warning as to why the thread or post was removed. However, we can't be expected to send a PM to EVERYONE in the thread who replied to it. That would take too long and really, it's nobody else's business who gets a warning and why. I mean, if you had a guideline violation and I had to send you a warning, would you want me telling everyone in that thread why I had to contact you?

This is what C.P. is talking about...his (or her) posts vanished and for what seemed like no reason. Most likely there was a reason, even though it wasn't C.P.'s fault that the posts/threads were removed. You just have to understand that sometimes we have to remove an entire thread and at some point your post may or may not get removed with it and it will affect your post count. If you're the one causing the problem, we will most assuredly contact you and explain. If you're not, just rest assured that moderators do not remove posts for absolutely no reason and if you can't find a thread, there's a reason it's gone.
