hiding text in preview

i figured out how to hide text in the rolloever preview of a thread on the hompage. just type like this: [you cant see this in the preview]. Put it in brackets and it cant be seen.. why? I dont know... lol

Has something to do with the codes, those square brackets are used usually with something in them like [img], maybe they tell the command to not show up in the displayed page.

Those are called HTML tags... The interpreter is expecting a valid command to be displayed there. However, when the HTML page loads for real (opening the link), it fails to interpret a valid command so it gets displayed as normal text.

Well, close - except HTML tags are done with angle brackets (< and >) -- the square brackets are really VB code being translated to HTML code by the VB engine.

Yea it looks like the VB engine disallows bracketed text (vbcode) from being
displayed in the alt-text. That's pretty cool but if you ever want to use it for
whatever reason, you won't be able to use vbcode formatting in your OP
