who is deleting my post....hmmm

Not that I am counting but I notice my post total went from over 500+ a few days ago to now after making 2 new post just at 499.

So my question is WHO is deleting my post without notifying me of it???

Not that I am counting, if it hadnt been past the 500 mark last week I would not have noticed this.

Are post being deleted that are very old?
If a thread goes banned is the post there considered deleted?
do Mods notify when they delete or not?

I was hoping to retire from posting upon reaching the 500 mark.

Hey is this 500? Can I now officially retire? Yeah!!! See ya folks its been fun.

I noticed that a few weeks ago. You're not alone.

Can't speak for anyone else but it about time for another purge of Secret Swapping. I'll make a global announcement when I start that. Perhaps tonight if RL isn't too busy. Those are deleted for age.

There has been some "Housekeeping" done here & there, like removing old threads that don't comply with guidelines we have now. I don't know how long ago that was, but nobody's been specifically deleting one person's post. I'm sorry if your posts got removed in the process, but you understand we cannot notify everyone in the whole thread that their posts have been removed too.

I'm curious, why not just PM -rcv- or Scrat or even a moderator about stuff like this instead of posting it out in the open? You know, we don't allow posting for the sake of raising your post count.

Bunny Summers resists the urge to hit delete and write a PM about posting for the sake of raising post count.

I hope your kidding. God forbid we post something out in the open for others to notice also. I simply asked some questions. I am sure some of your 2600+ & 8 post per day, could be deleted and you would notice too . You can delete every one of my post if you feel so inclined, no big deal I will get along just fine without your approval trust me.

Im curious why dont you just PM every person YOU respond to?

does it matter? does my post count, hi or low, add or remove any privledges?

also bunny aprox how long is this "probationary" period, i read somewhere it was 10 days but i have been here almost 1 month and I am still not a "full" member and if i was does that add any privledges? The only privledge i really wan is the ability to tell people to shut up and not get my posts deleted

Personally, Mac, until someone pointed it out to me about a month ago, I didn't even know my post count was really THAT high. I mean, I do respond & try to help people & my post count gets up there. Also, moderating tends to add a few post counts here & there. But you know what? Personally, I wouldn't care if I had 20 posts or 2,000. It doesn't bother me one bit. Not in the least. I don't understand why people are concerned with post count, myself unless they are trying to get to Full Members. I think if you try to be helpful & try to be courteous, and you have something to contribute, it doesn't matter what you say or how many times you say it. Too many people turn it into a contest. I even joke around with CBD, the former post count holder, when he brought it to my attention that I had surpassed him. He said he better get crackin' & make some posts to catch up with me. I joked around that "Noooo! I can't let that happen." I didn't go out & purposely make posts though. I couldn't care less if you or anyone else exceeds my post count. That's not why I post.

I'm not sure what you mean by "I'm curious why don't you just PM every person YOU resond to?" Meaning why do I post out in the open when someone else posts out in the open? Well, the answer to that is very, very simple. If someone posts a question on a thread, chances are someone else will have that question too. If not right then, maybe later. So, if anyone else has that same question, hopefully they will do a search & there's the answer. If they don't and someone else comes along & asks the same question, I can link it to that previous post. Question answered again. It saves typing & allows everyone the benefit of seeing the answer as well.

You don't need my approval? Well, no you don't. I didn't see a situation where my approval meant anything. I wasn't trying to give you my approval or disapproval. I was merely asking a question too. Most people know that when they post out in the open, they're probably gonna get some questions. I'm not sure why you took it so harshly, Mac, that I asked a question in return. Isn't that what a public forum is for, if not to answer but to ask?

Well, either way I think & hope your question has been answered. Some old posts have been removed lately because of content, like for example, the Post your Picture here, as well as a few others that don't fit guidelines anymore. No, we don't have time to PM everyone who was in that thread and I'm sorry if some of yours got lost in the shuffle.

Bagel - I don't know how long it usually takes. I will ask -rcv- or Scrat about that today. Hopefully, soon he'll have that taken care of. Sorry it took so long.

2 questions. First, where in the world do you find the number of posts that you have done and second, why do you care? I am sure I have a lot of posts (not 500+ though) but it never occurred to me to even check! I highly doubt anyone with taht many threads/posts going on can keep track of all of them anyway! Do you know even which posts were deleted, and what they said? If not, then you are just looking at numbers! hmmm..

Would it be possible to maintain a person's post count including deleted / old posts, instead of just ones that are still extant in the forums?

They are in the upper right hand corner of every post you make. It's kind of hard to miss them.

I don't think anyone really cares how many posts they have. When you do look, and you notice many are gone, you kind of wonder why. I noticed around 50 or more gone recently. You tend to notice that. I wondered why they were gone, but didn't mention anything.

When Mac asked that question, I was interested too. When Bubbles mentioned clearing out the old secret swapping messages I understood. A few months ago you could post a secret for someone out in the open, without it being stolen by someone else. I have 5 maxed toons, three other mid laffers and two noobie task helpers. With 50 S/f's available to each, you can imagine all the wasted space those messages from just me take up. I'll probably loose alot more the next time they clean house, but atleast I don't wonder if someone is going through and deleting my old posts.

I doubt most members here are concearned about post numbers. If I could, and had the time, I'd probably delete 99% of the junk I've written myself.

Secret Swapping threads should be set up automatically to have an life span
of 3 days. Every time there is a reply, the count could start over OR if a
discussion forms, it could be moved to another forum by a moderator.

I noticed polls have timers. Doable elsewhere?
Would be cool if it could be set up that way.

I was wondering the same thing, I noticed the other day and assumed some house cleaning was going on but didn't question it.

Mac asked in the open and Bunny answered in the open - it's all good.

There isn't much that isn't possible. setting an expiration for any/all of these threads. How much more work it entails for the admins of this site.. that is the deciding factor, I believe.

I agree with you about the secret swapping, since the codes are temporary anyway..

Not a bad idea Loosy. I don't know if it can or can't be set up that way, but a good idea nontheless. And hey, if it can, less work for Mods & Admin to go thru & clean 'em out.

Yaaa knowwww....
a lot of boards take that post count off...because of things like this.
Some people spam to get their post count up and then they go all to pieces when the board is pruned and their count goes down.

Might be an idea worth considering.
