Ok, as many of you have noticed, and if you haven’t noticed, can you come out of under your rock Toontown Central has gone through an overhaul.

I’m sorry there was no pre-warning as to the changes that were going to take place but I’ve had a lack of free time and just had to dive into the changes when I got free time on the DSL line at work as I have 56k modem access at home.

There were large changes in user permissions after lots of feedback from users about annoying spam posts, signatures, attachments and so forth.

Most of the changes have been made for the users of Toontown Central, and some have been made for the moderators and to accommodate a larger member base and server loads.

Most of the changes need to be there, and may be complicated to start off with, but they make life easier for the regulars. Trust me, once you get used to it you won’t want to go back.

The new server is running well after many hours of setting up by me, (gotta love linux) and now is running smoothly to an extent, I’ve still some more to do.

As for the actual site, it has more work to do, it is still a “Release Candidate” so things will chop and change but nothing drastic.

This server doesn’t come cheap and with a lack of sponsors the server came out of Eglyntine and I’s time and money. The donations previously have helped but could not sustain the server forever.

Initial Costs:
$160 Forums.
$35 Control Panel Addon.
$200 Hosting Setup Fee

Costs per year:
$2400/yr Hosting Fee
$15/yr Domain Hosting x2

Costs directly to me:
As I don’t have ADSL at home and my home internet connection is really bad, I am having to take 2 hours of each day to work on the site “at work”.
I normally get paid $35 an hour before tax, so all that adds up but I love what I do for the community.

Previous costs:
All the previous costs have equalled out with all the lovely donations you have been giving, so I won’t mention these here .
(Does anyone remember the 3 hosting companies in 2 months, because of scams.)

I decided to list most of the costs as people were complaining as to where their donations were going. I’m sorry if there were any confusions.
As for the list of donators, sorry that it isn’t always up to date, I get bogged down with other things and it slips down my list, but I will make it a priority from now on.
