Why Can't We Use HTML?

This is how it is in a lot of forum websites, and I'm just wondering why not. Why aren't we allowed to use HTML?

probally because some html can be bad.

It can link you to bad sites and have you download junk that is bad.

Also it might make the server work harder and alot of common stuff is already done with the codes we have now

(This may not be the official answer but it's what I think the answer is)

HTML can be used in malicious ways, such as giving someone some type of spyware, virus, etc. I'm sure no one would want that

You guys are giving pretty valid reasons but there's one problem. I've been to forum sites who could literally care less what kind of junk people install onto other peoples computers lol. There has to be another reason lol

You can't use HTML in posts or signatures. But you can use it in userpages.

That's a big different between TTC and other forums. We do our best to try to protect our users from harmful things. TTC is considered a family friendly place. We don't want people picking up viruses, spy-ware, or any other hardful programs that may actually cause damage to your computer. We do allow a limited form of html to be used on userpages, but have special mods that just monitor them for harmful or policy violating content. The BB coding already embedded in TTC should replace the more common usages of html which you can find at http://www.toontowncentral.com/forum....php?do=bbcode

And sometimes HTML code can get annoying, too. You could put marquee tags around all of your posts, and everyone would start complaining about how hard it is to read the scrolling words.

I only know of one forum that you can use HTML tags, even so, it's only bold, italics, and underline tags.

I don't allow HTML at all on any of the forums that I've set up and run (and although the Justa Littles and my writing forums welcome people of all ages - or those that are at least 13, they aren't all geared to families).

Mainly because of the viruses, etc. It's not about how old people are or whatever, as an adult, I certainly don't want to worry about my computer being infected any more than a teenager would - as if I or my adult friends/acquaintances want to shell out money to fix it all. I also don't want to be considered responsible for spreading that stuff around.

An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure

I'm not expert on HTML, I know some stuff but I don't understand how you would be able to make viruses with it
