An Awesome Idea for TTC

I have a brilliant idea for TTC, and I want to share it.

I think it would be quite awesome if TTC had its own file hosting, which would be different than the attachment feature we have now. We'd all have our own account, and we'd be able to upload files like music and put them on our userpages or use them for another site. It would really help since it's hard to find a good hosting site. I also don't mean a link to a download page for the file, I'm talking about a link to the actual file, like how you can see post a picture and people can actually see it. For example:

http://www.toontowncentral.com/upload/u30171/Mysong.mp3

There would be limits to the file uploading, of course. Maybe 5 to 10 MB for the file size of each file, we have a certain amount of storage, and you're allowed to upload only certain file types, like .mp3, .doc, .pdf, or just all the file types we allow now. Perhaps files could be mod-reviewed before it can be used?

The files wouldn't need to be publicly displayed, either. They could just be visible to you and the mods only

What do you think? it would be a big improvement for ttc. I would love some opinions on my idea.

This is a brilliant idea. This has actually run across my mind a few times, but never really went into any thought about it. I totally agree that this would be a big help! =]

not trying to be mean here but the rules are scrit and they probley wont to this cause reasons

1. Too much money
2. Buy the script is extra $
3. They already have one called The gallery
4. Music isnt allowed well certain ones toontown music is...
5. too many files would be sent and crash the server
6. they have a forum where you can host links (if allowed by mod) to post your music game or video

I hope this answers why we cant have a file host

Yes it does get annoying getting that e-mail from my site i go to saying "Log in every 30 days or else your stuff is deleted"

I think this is a great idea!
Most music hosting sites never work.
And you have to log in every 30 days otherwise the account will get deleted.

Would be awesome for userpages.
Then some people will never have problems getting music for their userpage's.

But i doubt this will happen

If TTC allowed Image shack I would be fine but since they restricted that I agree with the idea.

But this file hosting idea wouldn't be for pictures; it would be for files besides that, like music or documents.

Maybe there could be a limit for the file sizes but depending on what kind of file it is. For example:

MP3 .mp3 - 4 or 5 MB
MIDI .mid/.midi - 100 KB
WAV .wav - 5 MB
Word document .doc - 2 MB
PDF .pdf - 3 MB

These are only some of the extensions. We could just use all of the extensions we have now.

And we'd only have like 15 MB of storage. Reasonable, right? We could also be allowed maybe 20 MB of daily downloads.

If this could work, I think it would get pretty popular.

Guess it's time for me to burst some bubbles.

We actually have post attachments that does this. If you click on manage attachments when you create a post, it'll display all these types of file it can host. We can do these in small amounts but to be able to do these in large quanities would require a different server than we presently used. I'd like for us to be able to host people's videos, but it's just not possible on our present server. A server to handle this would require a great deal more power and would cost a lot more than we can afford.
