use your own avatar

ok, i have slaved over my painting program(i use windows, not sure what program it is...), to produce an amazing avatar, which is exactly 64 pixels by 64 pixels. i go into browse on the avatar selection page, hit my creation, and click"save changes".
it says this is not a valid image file.

i am left with two questions:
one:why cant i use it?
and two:what can i use?
if you could awnser these, that would be great
if i could figure out how to post the image, id show you, but the abbreviations confuse me...

and how do i turn it from a bmp to a jpg, anyways?

You need to go to "Save as" in paint, and choose either jpg or gif. Those are the only two file types I know of that work.

it's most likely a big file (64.0 KB+). if you make it on paint and just save it, it would save it as a .bmp.
.bmp files are particarly big. like garfieldo said, make it into a .gif or a .jpeg, but if you save it like that on paint, the quality will become absolutely horrible.
>_>
if you want, i can help you save it as a jpg on photoshop so its quality isn't messed but its size is still reasonable.

Well, most likely it's wrong size, or wrong format.
If you need it in the right format here's what to click: Open(Open your avatar image.) » Save as » Scroll down the format chooser and choose either ".gif" or ".jpg".
Hope you get your avatar to work.
