Something wrong
I've noticed 3 things wrong with my account.
1: The News forum is locked, when I was able to create a thread in it about a month ago. 2: I'm stuck in Invisible Mode, the option to get in and out of it is gone. 3: Also I can't post with a signature or update it, but it shows up in my profile and on "preview post". What's going on? |

Only certain usergroups have access to post in News now.
I've also adjusted your account settings, so try the sig/invisible again; if it doesn't work let me know, we'll keep working on it.

Still doesn't work. Also - just wondering - why did you make that forum so only certain users can post there?

I missed the official conversation, but we have had several Non-news posts in the News forum. By restricting access, the news forum has a better chance of staying news.
In the long ago, before we were so large, only mods were able to post in news. This of course made us miss some really important news that you, the members, find. So we opened it up. I think this could be a happy compromise. |

THe News forum is set so that only Full Members and higher can post new threads there.
That was done to cut back on inappropriate threads in the News. Full Members are users who have been members here for a long time, and who have never been Grounded or Banned. The cut-off date for most Ful Members was 14-April-2004. EDIT: I checked into Buster bunny's problem, and it seems to have nothing to do with this. There are other ways to get privs to post News threads. Mini-mods, HoF, Evil Bunnies and someother groups can pst new News threads, too. We had to restrict the posting of new thads in News because there was just too much spam being posted there, There ARE over 3,000 users who CAN post new threads in News, which should be enough to get important news posted in a timely fashion. -rcv- Kid Bugs |
