I agree. Greifers are always out of control. I am sorry they ruined your experience. I really hate it when people want to go the short way. However, if it wasn't for the cake missing, you would of wasted the whole factory. I have learned this the hard way many times, and now I now usually go in with friends, or sometimes go in with randoms. You always run a risk dealing with griefers.

I don't like being sneaky, but sometimes it's just too hard going with toons who don't know why you'd like to wait for an invasion before battling the supervisor. Not that I blame them: unless I had found toontooncentral, I'd have NO IDEA about any of this stuff! I have found that most toons don't seem to mind if I want to go the long way, but yeah, there are those out there who love to ruin it for everyone. |

On the other hand, I wouldn't really call these toons griefers. Did you ever say "This way." "Let's say together." at the door? If you did and they came back with some smart remark that would make them griefers. Otherwise they were just misinformed. I'm sure they didn't mean to do what they did, they just didn't know.

This sounds like fertile ground for deep misunderstandings to take root in.
My wife and I have come back to TT after a fairly long absence (and, no cracks about how *wrong* it is for adults to play TT, OK?). We ALWAYS used to run the complete factory, and had it down to a formula; but, then again, we ran with similarly motivated adults, and wound-up fairly quickly as 107+, HW, Laffers. That's all well and good, and we frequently did the factory between the two of us, as well as solo; and, when we took Low-Laffers in with us, we MADE SURE they could make it through the Long Run and come out at full laffs (usually). That involved a lot of "Follow me!"s and "This way!"s, and chasing toons down to make certain that they understood the game plan. The alternative was going with them; or running it long, hearing them go sad a few minutes later...making the Long Run seemed so obvious to us, then; but we took the short run a lot to keep the low laffers from going sad in there, and re-ran the factory later. That's when you had to re-suit and re-merit after every VP run; so, "double-jeopardy" became a way of life, so to speak, for factory runs; and you really wanted to make every trip-in count. Nowdays, you keep your suit and make merits on almost anything; so there's just not the pressure to make every Factory run by hitting every single cog in there. Aside from that, we're raising a new batch of toons; as well as already familiar with the factory layout and all the tasks needed to get back up above 100 Laffs. But, we've been doing regular factory runs since around 30-something LP. We take the short run an awful lot, in bringing our kids' toons, or our own low-laffer toons through the factory. That *is* a fast-track strategy that has it's place in the scheme of things, particularly when either of us wants some fast merits or has a SB task to wipe out. However...while we don't impose our strategy on others...other toons--especially younger kids--may not be seeing things the way you (or we) see them; and can end-up taking the short route through the factory, not really realizing what you're up to--giving you the impression that they are griefing you, when that isn't their true intent. In cases like that, your actions could be perceived as unjustified griefing of them--particularly, given the specific outcome you mentioned. Remember that every coin has two sides. If we are on a Long Run, and somebody else is insistent on taking the Short Run, we'll go with the Short Run, get out, re-gag, and go through the Factory again. In reality, it's not *that* much hassle...is it? ...and you end up with more merits for the time and gags you used, I'd wager.

Well....
If you had enough sound to get through the whole factory without restocking in the lava room, then you should've just followed the other toon. In all honesty, it takes just as much time to do two short runs as it does to do a full run..but you get more merits doing two short runs. When i work on my 5500, i ask a friend to help me. We bring about 4 aoogahs, 7 eles, and 3 fogs each. We go to the side entrance and kill those cogs, then head up to the boiler room (the room after the lava room) and from there head up to the warehouse and onto the silos. On the silos, we take turns using a fog. It takes a fog and an aoogah to kill the cogs on the west and east silo. If we alternate using fogs, we can do TWO runs without having to teleport back to the playground to get more gags. It literally takes no more than 5 minutes to finish that way (Doing the half factory), and we end up with almost 500 merits. (With Invasion, of course). |

That's brilliant! Why didn't I think of that?! Of course, I'm soundless so it will take a little more time (and thought ), but even with a Gag Shop visit in between, that's a lot less hassle than trying to do the whole place, having to stop in the Lava and Paint Mixer rooms, in one shot. You're my hero now ![]() |

Yeah, I'd just go alone or with someone you know. I never do factories with random people any more. Not worth it. Also this person may have just been some kid who wasn't aware of what was going on and was worried b/c they felt you guys ditched him. But it seems not as they had the coordination to get through a few battles alone and they were playing a high level toon. So yeah that does stink when that happens. But at least you got a little lucky and his wedding cake missed!

I don't have this problem, most the time since I'm soundless(i know i say this alot) i just get griefed at first batlle or at elevator.
------- Like today i was gonna go do a CGC while i was reading threads on ttc, i was being griefed. But when i went on w/ greifers they got super griefer on me and i said "good for you" Xd |
