DynoPeppy's unofficial guide to fighting the VP
Rule #1 - Focus on the cogs.
This is not the place to impress others with your razor sharp wit or to show off your vast knowledge of glitches. Other toons may not be as good as you and they may not have as fast a computer as yours. What you might think is a cool glitch might be the reason other players are having lag problems. Rule #2 - Don't attack a lured cog unless you intend to kill it. If you can't kill the cog then combine your gag with someone else. If there is no one else then wait until the next round before attacking. Sometimes pass is the smartest thing you can do. Rule #3 - If you are fighting a soundless battle then kill one cog per round. This strategy is referred to as LLKR (Lure Left Kill Right). It is a disadvantage to kill more than one cog. A toon can carry seven $10 lure gags and three hypno-goggle gags. If you kill the cogs one at a time then the VP sends out reinforcements one at a time. The relatively reliable $10 gag can be used to lure individual cogs. If you kill more than one cog then the VP will send out more than one reinforcement. Your team may be forced to use the less reliable magnet. Rule #4 - Don't kill the last cog until everyone is tooned up. Toon up can miss just like any other gag. When you see toons go "hehe" and only get a 2 or 3 point boost that is a TU miss. Don't take stupid risks. Wait until after everyone is tooned up before killing the last cog. Rule #5 - Don't run into the VP. When you touch the VP he wakes up (becomes un-stunned) and stops moving backwards. If your team does not push the VP over the edge within a set time limit then the VP will start jumping and spewing gears until it is almost impossible to win. So don't touch the VP. Rule #6 - Don't stand in front of VP gearcase jumping up and down. Other toons are aiming at the hatch and you are blocking their shots. You may think it is a clever way to get tooned up. In reality, you are protecting the VP from getting hit with pies. General tips & tricks: Beating the VP is the repeated application of a three step process: Step 1 - Someone gets close enough to VP that he will spray gears and open hatch (door at bottom opens) Step 2 - Someone lands a pie in his hatch and stuns him (stars around his head) Step 3 - someone hits him in face and chest with pies (drive him backwards) press DEL as fast as you can and you will send out a steady stream of pies that all land in the same spot. If you are behind the VP then adjust your position so that your stream of pies lands on gearcase cover. You will almost always have a pie in the air headed towards his hatch. As soon as the cover opens you should score an almost immediate stun with nearly 0% chance of missing. If you are in front of the VP then position yourself directly in front of him and adjust your distance so that the stream of pies hits him in the chin. When he is stunned run forward so that your stream of pies continues to pound him in the face as it drives him back. The "bait" toon is ideally located in front of VP. He runs up close and randomly lobs pies into the VP until the VP decides to attack him with gears (-3 damage). Once he has tricked the VP into opening hatch then he backs away and throws pies into the VP's face. A three or four man team using this approach can drive the VP over in no time. There are other approaches certainly. However, this approach only requires moderate skills and generally drives VP over cliff just as fast as the more complicated or difficult methods.
