Why not?

I am guilty... ...of SCREAMING that "Don't use sound on lured cogs" over and over when I was new. I did not understand. After all you don't get experience points if you use sound on lured cogs right? Wrong!Yes, I know there is a pop-up on the TT hints that says you don't get BONUS kill points if you sound lured cogs...you do however...get your regular experience points. When training LURE I would use it all the way through the factory when others were sounding. First, the more you use it the sooner you max it and Secondly, sound won't miss on lured cogs. Warning: often in CCG VPs, when we are trying to keep the lower laff toons alive we DO NOT sound because if you wipe out a row of 1, 2, 4, 12 level cogs, you could end up facing 4 level 12 cogs...And then there is the debate of which misses more...sound or lure...but let's not go there. Just trying to give the other side here...

I don't understand. This is a kids game played by people of all ages. My best friend is a newcomer to TT and I'm pretty sure he's an adult. We are both over 100 laff and he still makes a few mistakes now and then. I remember my first toon and I pity the people who played with her. I made plenty of mistakes, and that is how I learned. I have went sad 3 times this week in the VP. I'll keep trying and I take it for granted that people make mistakes. You never know what's going on around them while they are playing, so just keep trying and have fun.

It takes alot of screw-ups to make a 100 laffer go sad. It means that the team is low on laff. So what if you can sound through that batch of cogs, there will be a new batch and you have to lure anyway so that you can toon-up. When the team is low on laff, toon-up/lure should be the default safe choice. Sound is only when you're really really really sure. You don't have to play perfectly or make the best decision. You just have to not pick the worst decision. Most of the time you won't be lucky enough to have the firepower to sound through the cogs. If it's a row of lvl 10 or less cogs, I might not care much but if it is 11-12, it really annoys me when a gung-ho toon tells the team to use sound only to use an Aoogah or worse in the end. And this will be the same guy that will ask for a toon-up the next round. Last edited by The Dogfather; 03-20-2008 at 11:28 PM. Reason: Trolling |

sound on lured cogs.

Second: What I think some toons don't think of is: You can lure cogs while others pass or tu. Just because someone is luring doesn't mean you have to throw, squirt, trap, or sound something. It's much easier doing anything with a group of sfs so you can communicate fast. We use lure a lot of times even when next we'll all sound. We don't lure/sound at the same time though. We will lure and tu at the same time, or lure and then two will tu while the others might kill 1 or 2 cogs. We finally got a low laff friend to realize what we meant when we kept saying..you should pass while we lured. They realized that getting the cogs lured, then toon up those in need while another might kill one or two of the cogs, is a good thing. That way you might deal with 1 or 2 cogs going after you, not 4 lvl 10s or 11s. Third...as another stated: Cold Callers Guild is a great group. Times and districts have to be checked. If you want to make sure that you are going in with an experienced group, get sfs/post/communicate with others. Doc |
