Need help with VP hatch

I read the aiming pie thread and it was great. By following the advice you guys have given I am able to spew a steady stream of pies that hit VP in chest and face with well over 75% accuracy. But the hatch is a different story. I can not hit it at all. Usually this is not a problem since there is a short toon that runs around behind the VP and stuns him. At which time, my steady stream of pies to the face is just what the doctor ordered.

But ..... today it didn't work out.

The other foursome went sad and only two of the survivors had any idea what to do. Neither one of us was small or built with short legs. It was up to me to hit the hatch simply because no one else was even trying (I don't think they even realized that VP needed to be stunned).

I failed miserably at hitting hatch. Up close line drives were pointless. They just hit top edge and never went in. Standing far back didn't work because I was too inconsistent. I could hit the hatch cover great but when the hatch opened it only gummed up gears about half the time. Another toon ran around and tried line drives with same result. It was same size toon as mine and the pies also hit top edge of hatch. After a while we realized that it was a stalemate. There were only two of us left. The VP couldn't defeat us and we couldn't defeat the VP. So we pied each other to full laffs and quit. How very disappointing.

1) How do you throw line drives so that they actually go in?
2) In general what is best distance, angle, and spot for throwing lobs?
3) Why do lobs that hit cover not gum up gears when hatch opens?
4) What, if any, is best way for taller toon to hit hatch?

The left tread (when you face him) is always the best spot if you want to stun. Either front or back, it is easier (back is easiest though since he doesn't do the area attack. Then when you aim, make sure the blue is as low as it can. Hope I helped. I don't know about line drives because I don't do them.

Mabye try getting the blue power bar,(right above the pie icon) as low as possible
dont just keep on clicking and clicking. Wait until the bar gets down to almost nothing. That's what I do and mine go in almost all the time =)

Yeah, I've never been too successful with line-drives. I do better with long attacks, but when you get down to the helicopter pad, it's hard to do long attacks. Good suggestions though guys. I'll have to try those.

i have a nice spot by the right tread, and if i position just right i can gum up the works without getting hit with a cog wheel. it's a very good place for soloing.

being a small toon helps when u want to hit him up close. i stand in the middle of one of his treads, as close as possible, then lightly tap insert (or delete, whichever u use to throw pies) after his gears fly out. takes a lot of practice to find the right spot.
from a distance, (my favorite actually!) i am constantly moving back and forth while throwing pies at the same time. you will see your toon just slide around, its great. keep yourself aligned with his hatch, and watch where your pie is flyin. if its not hitting the hatch when the hatch is closed, then move back or forth to adjust. i also find that when the vp is on the last ramp, and doesnt want to budge, and he keeps jumping....keep throwing the pies while doing the back and forth moving thing, if you get lucky, you might get a pie in there while he is in mid air! gl and remember that with each vp you will get a little better each time.
the end.

If you have extra time, complete a for-fun task that rewards you with a tiny toon. I have a very tall dog, so I end up blasting the VP from the front. The only really good time to go for the hatch as a tall toon is when the VP is on the ramp; you can get lower than him and have a much better angle.

Go on some CCG runs. If it's apparent that they're having no problems with the pie round, try standing there out of range (keeping an eye on the VP so that you can jump when necessary) and practice the straight row. It takes some practice to know exactly when to release it. There should be very little blue in the power bar if you do it correctly.

The position to take up is about two steps away from the VP's outer left tread, preferably in back (where you won't get hit by the cog showers) and stand diagonally facing the middle of the hatch. If you're positioned right, you can take three steps forward (diagonally towards the hatch) and not run into it. You also won't be hit by flying gears when the door opens. When the VP looks your way, take two steps forward, watch the gears he aimed at you fly over your head, then step back two steps to where you were. When the door opens, use the straight throw.
didn't work. practiced and practiced and practiced. threw when blue was at about 5-10% and still just got top edge. Darn. HQ won't give me any "for fun tasks" until I finish lawbot suit. But I've been using flake as an instant toon-up (get 2 vp runs for every piece of LB suit). Oh well, I guess that's just the way that the pie flies.

It makes a huge difference where you are standing. If you are up really close to the VP, so close that his gears miss you, you can usually get the pie in when the blue bar is really low. The only problem is that sometimes what you see isn't what is exactly happening in the game. You may see yourself in the right position, but not really be there (the game and other players see you a few steps off). The only way to really tell is when he throws gears and misses you. I still have a hard time with the position sometimes. You will get it, though. Everyone who I know that really has it down practiced a lot before they found that sweet spot. Good Luck!

Oh, and size of your toon won't make any difference if you are in the exact right spot. Small toon helps if you are in a different spot.
