Putting Pictures In Signatures and In Posts (w/o Attaching Files) UserGuide (10/2)

Both ecwcwwe & I had the same idea: because there were SO many people who wanted to know how to put a picture in their signature, we both made individual guides. Using a lot of his techniques: pictures instead of words, and some of my techniques, I hope you think this makes it easier.

Anyway, here we go:

ecwcwwe & Bunny Summers Illustrated Guide on How to Put a Picture in your Signature

Steps 1-3: This is how to find pictures on your computer after you've taken screenshots. You initially take screenshots while you're playing Toontown by pushing F9. This will show you where they are stored. You can use ANY picture provided it's rated G. You'll just have to find where those are stored on your own.

Step 1: Click on the My Computer icon on your desktop

Step 2: Double Click on the C: Drive. Usually this is where they install Toontown. You may have it on another drive. If that's the case, you need to locate where it is.

Step 3: Find and double click on the Program Files folder.

***IF YOU KNOW HOW TO FIND YOUR OWN PICTURES ON YOUR OWN, PROCEED TO POST #3***

Steps7-9:

There are various types of image editing programs, Photoshop, Paintshop, Paint...too many for me to go into. Since all Windows programs have Paint, this is why I'm illustrating in Paint.

After you select your image and move it over to the far upper left-hand corner, you do need to click once, anywhere on the picture to get rid of the Select box. Then scroll ALL the way over to the right and All the way down until you see the lower, right-hand corner of your box. This is the only way ywill be able to see the double arrow as instructed:ou

Now, you're going to need to upload your pictures to a picture hosting site. If you know of a good free web-hosting site, PM me please & I will add them to this.

Some free image hosting sites:
www.***********
http://www.walagata.com/index.php
1asphost.com
http://www.pixfiles.net/index.en

Log on to your picture hosting site (the nice thing about ************** is that you don't need a log in name, so I'll use that in this example:

Uploading con't

Find your file. Usually, you save them in your Toontown folder but you may have decided save it in some other folder. If you know where it is, locate it. Because we've gone through to find your Toontown folder previously, I won't go into detail about finding it again. After you're done, click on Host it!

Finding your URL (web address):

It'll give you a bunch of URL's and IMG tags to use. I scroll down to the bottom one below the thumbnail of your picture, the very last URL they give you and that's the one I usually use. Highlight the URL, right-click on it and then click on copy.

Finally, you've finished posting a picture to your signature.

Thanks again, to ecwcwwe for lending me the pictures and letting me create a compilation of his & my own techniques for instructing people on how to put pictures on signatures.

As a side note: Please, try to keep pictures at a minimum of around 200kb (around 500 x 167 pixels). This will make it easier for people to read your posts, won’t draw attention away from the information other people are seeking, and will make it faster for people who have dial up connections to load the pages. Also, it will be easier on the eyes for Moderators of the board who have to examine signatures for content. Hope this helps!

ecwcwwe and Bunny Summers!

If there are any changes to be made to this or an error on my part, please PM me: Bunny Summers

NOTE: All the additions I made today from Post #12 & on are done in WYSIWYG format (What You See Is What You Get). If you're not on that, it may be a little strange to you. To switch to WYSIWYG format, go to the User CP, then click on Edit Options. You'll have a box at the very, very bottom of the selection that looks like the picture below. Select WYSIWYG from the drop down box.

Hope this is helpful! As I said, if there are any changes to be made to this or an error on my part, please PM me: Bunny Summers

Happy Posting!!!!

I also recommend PIXfiles for uploading signatures. Its sorta like ImageShack. But, ImageShack is kinda better than it. http://www.pixfiles.net/index.en
