Photo Finish is stupid

OMG i was just racing and i crossed finish line first and it said photo finish. when i crossed finish line first i came in last and the person in last came in first. can some tell me why this is happining.

It has nothing to do with cheating. It's a kind of lag...what you see on your screen is not necessarily what is really happening, depending on the different computers being used.

It's hard to explain perfectly, but sometimes when you are running down a street in TT with a friend, it looks like you are in front, but your friend beats you there. That's what the 'finishing first, coming in last' thing is like.

This happens to one of my friends all the time. As we are racing together and also talk to each other via Teamspeak (voice chat with headsets), he told me many times he saw himself coming in first. But he ain't in the leaderboard when the race is over.
Then he swapped over to his second PC, a notebook, which is not as fast as his main Desktop PC. And now he is really winning nearly all races where he sees himself coming in on first place.
So I guess it also has to do how fast your PC is. In the last update description Disney also said Further equalized Kart performance across different computer systems, so I think this has to do with it as well.

That has happened to me. Either I am the one in last zooming to first, or I am first and next thing I know, I'm last. I've learned if it's not because of a lag, it's because the person in last may have had a boost at the last second and caught up to you in time to still have a chance at glory. Ya never know unless your on their screen. I know sometimes it stinks when you clearly see yourself in first only to cross the finish line and find out someone else was in first at the last second. I hate it as well, but when I think back to my two reasons stated above, it helps a little bit. Hope that helps you. Gwen

bugs race me i know u have a rodster u got it on 9/26. i do hate photo finish i would have 9 trofys but they had to put photo finish

Photo finishes aren't my best friends either, but sometimes I finish first and I am two turns ahead of them in CC, then my friend crosses and it shows him in first and me in second! Me and him were like "WHAT?" because both him and I saw me cross first, so I don't know what the issue is there...

The PHOTO FINISH was created because there used to be situations where the person with the fastest time did not come in first. Toontown took the times reported by the client and posted them in the order they arrived assuming they would arrive in the proper order. This was not always the case. It was possible for the client of the person comeng in SECOND to report before the person coming in FIRST. In this case, the person who came in SECOND got awarded the tickets as if that toon won.

Photo Finish is just a way of slowing down the process if it looks close so the proper toon gets awarded with the win.

yes my mum and me where raceingn once and both are screens said first did you know so if you're close to somone they might really be in front of you tho

EDIT:i found that roasters are same as TUVs i think i used my mums roadster and it did as good as my TUV but i looks nicer tho:TIDE

For me I don't have too many photo finishes anymore. They've ben all regular, and I come up in 2nd and it puts me in first because my time is lower. Thoguh in photo finishes my comp usually showed the right thing

oh ok so that's what's happening

i keep coming first, and sitting there watching the others come across the line after me.. but then it comes up saying i was second or third.. verrrrrrry frustrating!!!

Thing is though, i dont know how it can be lag when other ppl are seeing it happen too... keep getting comments like huh? or that stinks.. from other players im racing with so i know its not just me seeing it.. Even got a 'huh??' from the person who was coming third and ended up coming first.

So it actually works on the times and not who crosses the line first??
