To stay on track or hit the wall, that is the question

I must be the worst driver in the world! I havn't won a single race. So I decided to do an experiment. I drove one lap (on the country track) trying to stay on the road. This required frequent slow downs. I was semi-sucessful. My time for that lap was 1.47. Than I ran a lap going as fast as possible and then just hitting the walls everywhere. That lap was 1.41. A 6 second diference in favor of just going crazy and hitting the walls. I do experience a 20 - 30 mph slow down when I hit them. And if I really wack them hard (as I do on the short track) I've slowed down to almost a stop. But still, it seems to be the fastest way.

What do you think?

Here's what I do for both tracks, and I am somewhat succesful.

Rustic RaceWay: I slow down a bit when going around the first turn, then, I make my cart align with the wall when I head into the turn, so I hit the wall and "skim" then I turn back into the track.

ScrewBall Stadium: I get on the inside of the track on the straitaways, and I start aligning my car with the wall when I get to the turn, not enough to hug along the inside fence. If successful, I hit the wall with my car's back to it, so I'm facing the next straitaway, and I just accelerate away.

Is that clear enough? Its what I do, and overall, I am 85.42% win when I do that.
