I'm sure it's happened to you, too. You get hit by another car (or you hit them) and your car almost comes to a dead stop while the other car doesn't even slow down. Is there any rhyme or reason to which car gets the slow-down "penalty"? Or is it just random? It seems pretty random--but it might be that the car who's going the fastest at the time of impact fares better than the other. What do you guys think? If there was some way to consistently bring another racer to a stop by side-swiping or rear-ending them in a certain way, that would be a sweet skill to have. But it seems like I'm always on the receiving end of the slow-down penalty.

I hate that! Its annoying! You hit them or they hit you, your kart slows down, and your oppenent(s) speed at lightining! But sometimes if you hit them or they hit you, their kart might slow down.

if you hit in to somebody and keep taaping f9 it hapens and lag causes it.
it is a glitch. i dont do it because it fells like youre ceating.

well the way i see it:

you hit the back of their kart-you slow down
they hit you in the back- you still slow down
they hit you'r side while speeding ahead-you slow down

i have no advice except to get in first so nobody is able to hit you. I'm actually a very good racer (payden full if you're out there...I challenge you!) so really, stay on the inside of turns, turn early so you don't hit the wall, place bananas in precarious places (at teh end of boosts, on easy to hit places like near turns, in front of a present...stuff like that) those are my lil secrets

EDIT: it's a glitch? noooo...couldn't be. I raced a noob once and they did it! I know it was a noob because later they said things like "lets go fight the vp!" "please be my friend" and all of those noobish things

Also if they are sf's that you are racing with you could exchange races. I know my friends and I do that so that we get a chance at the tropheys.

Your friends might not want to do it or you just like the free for all but that is your choice. I prefer to share the races with my friends so that we each have the chance to win a trophy.

Interesting! I agree that's a little on the cheating side, but if I'm with SFs and we've agreed to no-holds-barred racing (my fave), then anything goes.

There's something that REALLY bugs me about having an SF pull over near the finish line and let me by because it's my turn to win. It's so much more fun to blow their doors off fair and square! (Although, I suppose if I glitch, then technically I've lost some of the "fair and square" aspect of it! heh heh)

I understand and most of the time we don't pull over at the finish line though have but that is more likely to happen on the speedway one versus the other 2. I know when I race and it is someone elses win I just get off the mark slower so they start out in front and if I'm could pass them I will miss speedups.

I enjoy the free-for-all racing to every once in a while but when you are on the 100 wins and qualifies like I am right now, just need qualify on one track win on the other and others need it to, it is nice to split it so you both get something out of it.

Depends on the mood all of us are in when we race. If we are racing with the goal of trying to get the trophy then we swap if we are just racing to have fun then we do free-for-all racing.

Racing at least you feel like you are getting somewhere vs fishing you can fish for hours and be no closer to getting a fish or trophy but if you race for hours you are more likely to get a trophy.
