It all works out at the end of the race, don't worry. The time is calculated as to how long each toon takes to complete the race - that's why sometimes you or another toon will cross the finish line first, but not win the race.

It's just lag between computers on the net. I've seen people take off before I even got the countdown, when it said "Waiting for other players". Have you ever been able to move while the countdown is going? You can't, and neither can the toon you're racing against. From their perspective, the countdown went and they simply beat you off the line. It's really not a problem, it all works out with the timing as someone else mentioned.
Above all else, it's just a game. Nothing to get worked up about or lose friends over

Computer Lag
Hi,
I don't necessarily agree with the "it's just your slow computer and lagging" excuse. I have two PCs, both new, both with over 2GB of memory, and both with blazing processors. I've been at work over the weekend and taken advantage of our T3 connection to the Internet, and I've still seen it. I know there are other places for bottlenecks, but if I'm seeing them, others should see them. As long as I qualify and get my tickets back, I don't mind too much. I just don't think it's right. |

Yep.. And you get the anvil advantage even if you're beating them in time. XD They'd be in 'first' and you can ruin their time. I don't like it when I'm on a roll and people ruin my time. But it happens, and I must let karma do her thing. And while on the subject of "ISN'T FAIR", what makes me mad in races is when you someone is lagging and they stay still for a second and you hit the back of them and it slows you down by about 30 mph. I get crazy when that happens. |

I think this becomes major disadvantage when you appear to start first. I play on two PC’s and one has some kind of time glitch that effects the clock and view in cog battles and racing. In several races recently it appeared I started way ahead of the other racers and had the lead the whole race. Meanwhile I would get hit by anvils from the other racers and never once would receive an anvil myself. From what I can tell I’m getting hit by anvils, but by time I’m not in first place. The last race I got hit by an anvil right at the end of the race and by my view crossed the finish line first. By time I lost by over 8 seconds which was way more than the time I lost from the anvil hit. I started racing on my other PC and no longer had this problem.

Just except
Starting behind another toon can be a disadvantage if the other one knows how to use peels. If you see another kart start ahead of you don't panic like I used to do. Just race your race and it will equalize as the race progresses. If you are a faster racing you will end up in the lead. We can't tell if we are the one that may start first, so I think this bug will pretty well equalize itself.
I think Toontown handles the huge and diverse amounts of hardware the players use pretty well. Just think of all the different types, and speeds of the hardware used. The game must try and make it equal for all the players, but this attempt is not always successful. Goofy Speedway has bugs and glitches just as all other parts of the game. As players we set a standard of quality that we will except or not except. If you want to play toontown you have to set your own standard and play or not play. So in short have fun with what Toontown is, and don't expect the all the bugs and glitches to go away in the next update.
