How do you jump out of the kart once you are in it. There is no x button at the lower corner of my screen. It infuriates me when everyone jumps out of the kart and I am left alone entering the tunnel. Help!

There is a "Hop Off" button at the top middle of your screen. Just click that to hop off the golf cart.
