Bug with Golf

I hope I explain this clearly enough.

I was playing Golf with two other toons. We did a Hard Course and on around hole 7 one of our toons in the group stopped playing. I'm thinking the toon lost connection - we were experiencing some lag on the previous round.

Well, me and the other toon were chatting through speedchat. The toon obviously wasn't there. This
"chatting" went on for 5-10 minutes and the game would not reset or kick the toon out of the game by timing out.

So, what do I do? Send a BUG Report to Toontown - thinking, as a good little toon, I'll report the issue to see that it times the toon out.

And this is the response I get: (canned)
Dear Toontown Guest,

Thank you for your bug report.

It appears that DirectX is causing some conflicts within your system. We
recommend that you update DirectX from the following website:

http://www.microsoft.com/directx

We hope this helps and look forward to seeing you again soon in
Toontown!

Thank You,

Vanessa

So it seems that me and the other toon I'm talking with are having the SAME Direct X problem?

Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight. Do they even read the bug reports?

Same thing happened to me yesterday while in a game with 3 other toons. The lost toon was just standing there. This toon did say during the first part of the game "I'm Stuck." After this I was chatting with the other toons in speedchat (they were quite funny by the way) and we decided to go back to the playground.

Can't be as good as the response I got for reporting that when you tp to DG from the pond in AA the screen goes blue..

Nothing I said even mentioned Vista..and I'm sure if I couldn't get toontown to work with Vista I wouldn't have been able to get my account back a month ago!

I believe they just read what their bug report system says (which tells them what OS we are using, how much RAM we have, what type of processor/graphics card etc we have) and then just click on reply, choose a generic answer, even if it has nothing to do with what the report says and press send.

ETA: I also LOVE how they say "we are working to resolve this issue" when Vista is mentioned..it's like you've had Vista in you're hands for almost TWO YEARS...do something with it for pete's sake so you can stop using that as an excuse!

Did you have to Alt-F4 out? Or was there a way you could "run to the playground" that I just didn't see.

Thanks.

Dumb! I am simply marveled by their "technical support." Sure, they have a quick response, but it's not exactly helpful in anyway. On the bright side, though, once you're done with TT (if you ever are) you can get your money back since you're using Vista! That's always a good option.

My response to the Toontown email said:

"That makes absolutely NO sense.

Thanks for the quick response."

One thing I've nocticed when friends disconnect is that when and if they log back on, the game resumes normal play. If they don't, you might as well alt f4 out yourself, otherwise you could sit there eternally.

I thought about sending in a bug report yesterday when people kept disconnecting again. I hate to be cynical, but after reading the above, I'm glad now that I didn't bother.

I stopped sending in any bug reports. The only time I write is if I can't connect for days and I know 100% that it isn't something on my end.

I pay to play, not send in bug reports. If I had a test account, I feel I would be obligated to send in bug reports.

I sent in a bug report last weekend when TT was having problems letting anyone log on (before they closed for maintainence). They replied back that it was MY graphics driver! Of course it's never their problem!

I am sure the name is a "canned" name as well as the response. None of them are helpful and I am certain 99% of emails are just deleted. However, they are very quick to tell you not to use foul language! I tried it just to see if they even open the emails at all. That could have been a canned filter response as well, i guess I will never know. They have my vote for the worst customer support out their, heck even Microsoft is better!

meh its not really about making money, it costs ALOT to run the servers, make sure they are reliable 24hours a day, and for all the development that they go though and the fixes that they have to do, however the generic answers that they give when problems that occur are pretty far fetched
