Random Tie Breaker Unfair.

This is probably the worst idea to ever hit Toontown since -insert most hated addition to toontown here (in my case, gardening)-.

Not only does it take the fun out of golfing, but it makes golfing unfair.

I don't think that having to randomly pick a winner out of two people just because they both did just as good. So what does the other player(s) get? A pat on the back and "thanks for trying"?

I don't really care about things in the game to start a petition (which doesn't work), or to think about asking everyone to send in a bug report saying how unfair this is until they decide to change it, but this random tie breaker thing is about as unfair as asking my 7 year old sister to drive my car....(if I had a car, but thats besides the point).

How can we make them change this random time breaker thing?

Does anyone even agree with me?

I definatly agree. Me and Payden just got done facing eachother on a 9 hole course, we both golfed great, and we both had just one hole we did bad on, and they gave me the win, which wasn't fair since we both golfed equally as well. I've also been jipped out of a few wins myself. I think they should just give a credited win to both players that tie. I don't see how it would hurt them at all...

It does kinda stink on the single game level. However the big picture is that you can get 2 laff pts in a day or two. The third laff point is then about 500 more multiplayer games and 90 or so wins on all the courses. Given the number of games and competent play you should get the 100 wins while you work toward the 600 - ties or no ties.

I still think they should give a win to everyone who ties. The downside of that for some is that players can work together to increase their wins by getting ties. Perhaps that is against the purity of the sport where you are supposed to try and do your best on every hole. But randomly assigning a winner when two played as well is not right either. Fractional wins would certainly be fair - not favoring anyone nor encouraging ties. It would still leave the 3-somes and 4-somes at a huge time disadvantage in the race for 3 laff points.

On the test release notes right now:
Added new MiniGolf tie breaker: In the event of a tie, the Toon who finished the course fastest shall be declared the winner (your times will be shown in your rankings).

So they are looking at other solutions now on test.

Fastest Toon Takes the Tie on Test

Now they are trying out a new tiebreaker on test - the fastest toon takes the win.

So far I cannot say from experience that it is any better. You can have one bad hole and blow any chance for a win even if you tie. You get one bad hole and even though you won on 5 other holes, tied two, and was worse on one you lose.

I would guess that more experienced golfers might have the edge in setting up the shot quicker. However there may also be issues with having to wait for a block to move that makes the difference.

It would also tend to encourage a style of play geared toward easy to aim and high percentage shots.

The "problem" they are trying to "fix", toons cooperating to get ties, is far less evil than the tiebreaker schemes they have come up with.

Wow, I haven't been on test yet to see this, BUT - it was just yesterday on Open, that I actually thought of that!
Strange to see, that they are now testing it.

I find myself wanting to say Sorry if I win a tiebreaker - doesn't feel right to win that way.

I TOTALLY AGREE!

I only needed one more win for another trophy on kit & caboodle
and because of the "random tie breaker" I had to do 9 more holes AGAIN!

You have no idea how much I despise this new "rule." Everytime I've gotten a tie with someone else the other toon gets the win. I've probably only won a tiebreaker twice out of about 15 times. I hate this and it's got to change!

Just tested the new "fastest toon rule" on Test - even if you play alone, it now shows the time it took you.
I have absolutely NO idea, where they get "their" times from. I looks something like this: 0'16''25

In my mind, that would be 16 minutes 25 seconds, right? But NO WAY does it take me 16 minutes to finish a 3-hole course, lol.
Actually, I believe it has to be read as 0 minutes 162.5 seconds - a little over 3 minutes....sounds more right to me.

No petition needed, your wish came true. Now they also count time taken as a factor of winning. Keep in mind this is currently in test only.

So far the speed factor just makes so little sense. Golfing should not be a race. Imagine adding a clock to a baseball game - an inning is 3 outs or 10 minutes whatever comes first. Just not the same game.
