But the thing about getting points and trophies and whatnot - people aren't then helping out toons to be helpful and generous, they're doing it for the trophy.

and I have done a few times, it's amusing to go to ttc and have little toons crowding round with "please be my friend" .. and I've added a few new toons to help them with tasks but I delete them when they go offline lol..

Wink I think everyone should help the newbees

take the apprentice tasks often, mainly the help a newbee kill cogs in Toontown central or help them take over building.

These are nice breaks when you have gone to DA elevator D 3 times in a row and want a break. I am a rabbit so I like the no color (White Rabbit… either a Lewis Carrol or Jefferson Airplane fan.. or both….) so I only task for beans, and all of my friends are tired of all the gifts I give in an attempt to use 50% or so of the beans I gather.

I keep my last tree in my garden toon up so I can have lots of feathers when I go to help in Toontown. That way I can let the newbees get the experience points while I keep them healthy. I limit my overpowering "show off" gene until the last cog needed to complete the task then go ahead and use a birthday cake or piano...

As far as taking a building with a newbee, it allows you to help them understand that no matter how macho they are it is ok to pass now and then. They can learn the fun of taking over buildings as a duet.

I know these tasks forced some “older and wiser” toons to work with me back a few months ago when I was a newbee and I am happy to pass on to the next generation.

No. I never have. Before I finished all my tasks, I never needed jellybeans, and now, to get a small toon, I only do the 80 or 100 cogs task.

It depends on the task. If its a ' help a new toon defeat cogs' task, then I usually choose it. But I dont choose the ones for helping a new toon defeat a building. Its hard to keep new toons alive, and still harder to get them to go in. At least for me it is.

Smile Occasionally...

yes...I will occasionally help the new toons, task or no...usually on days that I desire some variety...but I only chose the "help w/a building" task once! Took for-ev-er to find a toon brave enough to go.

No, I don't. I should've voted "depends", though, because if it's something simple like defeating cogs for the "small toon" reward, then I'd do it.

I also vote "depends" if there is such an option. I don't pick tasks that help to defeat buildings anymore. You just can't find small toons to go with you. The last building I did with a small toon, it just happened the toon zoomed right into the elevator when I stepped in.

I can earn the same number of jellybeans by going fishing without the risk of being harassed (by those he stinks, she stinks, everybody stinks phrases). When helping those small toons, I usually get into the group and wait till I see what they pick first before I pick my gags. Many times, I have to choose pass. If I would need beans from the toontask, I just get into the group and wait till I have to do something to keep them alive.

Regarding the "Pls be my friend" request, I also have a few bad experiences. I made friends with everybody before. What it was is when I was busy in a building or helping another toon and they keep asking me to TP. But when I told them I'm in a building or I'm busy helping other toon, they said you stink and left friend list. That's ok, no hard feeling but if I choose to leave some toons, I usually don't do it while they are still on. Besides, I have never use the "stink" phrase. So, I have been very alert to accept new friends lately. I have to go into a building with them a couple of times before I accept their request.

It depends for me. I never get building tasks, though. It's not that nobody wants to go in; I've had way too much grief from 17-Laffers hanging out in DDL.

It's just that I can never find small enough buildings. It seems every building I go to is 5-story and swarming with 16-Laffers. I'm almost afraid to go into 5-story buildings even in TTC because of a bad experience: I once went into a Sellbot building right after a Telemarketer invasion and was met with a Mingler level 11!! I had stocked up on 'baby gags' and totally wasn't ready!

So I'm sitting here hunting for 1- or 2-story buildings, and of course I don't find any! I try to stick to TTC as well; a higher chance of littler Cogs.

With friend requests, I just turn the requests off in my Schticker Book. It's as simple as that. Every once in a while I'll forget, but I'll be reminded when Miss Peanut or Sir Biscuit comes up and asks to be my friend. I'll say, "Oops!" "Sorry, I can't." And then I'll turn off the requests.

Yeah I know the feeling. Either the toons that will get on the building with you have more than the 25 points or they get on and they have not gags.

And the constant will you be my friend is sooo annoying. If I say sorry I can't right away, then what makes you think I'm going to change my mind if you ask 10 more times?
