Maybe since today is mother's day you could make your mom a toon and ask her to play with you

Just a thought.

Have they ever actually played before? If they have and didn't like it there is not much you can do. If they have never played before then try to get them to sit with it for a little while and try it out. That's basically the best you can do.

Well, I'd NEVER get my mom to play, she is totally anti-electronics But, my dad might if I made him You have to make it so they do it willingly, if you force them they'll get off in like 5 minutes.

Try telling them that Toontown involves math and it teaches you Social Skills. What parent wouldnt encourage that.

My daughter is responsible for my TT addiction!!!!! 7 months ago she asked me to FISH for her because she desperately needed beans to buy an emote from her cattlelog. So, off she went to school and I spent hours fishing with her toon (lots of other toon interaction, especially those needing help!) . Now I have my own account with 6 toons. Try asking them to fish for you in a crowded playground! One toon is bound to come along and pull their heartstrings!!! It worked for me! Lots of Luck!!

My son & daughter showed me that by having secret friends they would get to type words, and help with their typing and their spelling.

Then my son started talking about he math (3 fogs + 1 ele = 171+20% of 171 for the multiple bonus = 205, which is more than the 200 to take them out. Then he worked out all kinds of combos for gags using the math to show me it really used math, in your head.....

Then they convinced me that if we had two accounts, then I (dad) could play with them while I was out of town - <working the guilt for being out of town...>, and then I could type them messages, and they would have to work on their spelling and typing....

Well, I wasn't going to stand in the way of anything that would help with spelling, math, talking to dad, and typing....so....

3 years later.......

I play pretty much daily, have multiple maxed toons....

My son plays maybe weekly, working on first maxed toon.....

My daughter quit (and I finished up Candy Sparkleface through law...)

That's the hook - math, spelling, typing, and guilt, if one of your parents travels a lot........

I had never played any type computer game period, when my son and grandson got me to make a penguin and "help them" play their penguins. Hah! It wasn't long before I was paying for everyone to play. We live across the country so it was fun to play and chat together.

So when my son found ToonTown..he just kept asking me to make a toon...and try it. No. NO. NOOO! So he made me a toon...a cute little purple duck..and he was SO PROUD of himself....I just didn't have the heart to disappoint him...so I sat at his computer and tried very unsuccessfully to walk the toon across the playground. GRRR! He was so sad when I told him I just could NOT do it.

But after he went to sleep I practiced til I could get her walking. Except I got stuck in the fountain and had no clue how to get out..I had to log out. LOL! Every night I played for a little while to figure it out.

All of a sudden my toon had 30+ laff and his only was in the 20's...hmmm. Of course I was ready to go to Donalds Dock first and he talked me into "just try it for one month mom" if we don't play it..just stop paying. Sounded reasonable...

Only since both toons are on the same account we can't help each other. So we discussed 2 accounts. But MY toon had higher laff...and I didn't want to give her up (I did not know you could MOVE a toon!) so I told him if he would let me have his account...I would pay his for 3 months! LOL! Ten months later and 5 paid accounts...I am still playing...he has moved on to making games!

Hope this gives you some ideas...."you can lead a duck to water..."

My son began playing TT and, I decided I needed to review the game to make sure it was safe and appropriate. I've never been interested in any game ever and now, I'm addicted to TT and my son and I play together!

Firstly, welcome to TTC!

Anyway, my parents aren't the type of people that review games.

I became addicted to Toontown when my daughter created a black cat on Halloween 2007, and she asked me what name she should give the cat. I suggested Witchy since it was Halloween. After a few weeks, she did not want to play Witchy anymore. I took one look at the black cat, and she personified all of my human persona attributes. I tried playing, and I have loved every minute of it ever since. My daughter and I shared an account before, but we argued so much, over online play time, so I decided to get my own account and transfer my toon. Since then, peace in the household has been achieved. So my suggestions are, invite them to make a toon, or make a toon for them, but ensure that the toon you will create for them will represent their physical and personality attributes, and ask them to help you with a task, and explain the dynamics of the game. The part that got me interested the most is, how the gag choices, and the strategies will determine the outcome of the battle, i.e. lure bonus, organic has more damage points, and so forth.

Another part I enjoy about Toontown is, being a member of the group ATTA. I find enjoyment and solace, knowing that there are a lot of adults like me who are addicted to TT.

My daughter later confessed, that she created Witchy in my image and likeness, to get me started on TT. Since then, both of our accounts have been upgrade to yearly subscriptions! I play more TT than she does.

Have a wonderful week! I hope this helps. Perhaps, you should invite your parents to read this thread.

Maybe you should tell them how much you love it and explain how much TT means to you.
And, that you have TONS of friends and you don't want to lose them.
But, making a Toon for them works great, too.

Thanks so much for making me feel welcome!! I'm sure my son wishes I didn't review games either but alas, they tell me I'm a bit overprotective. Although, he has gotten around that on many occassions since he knows much more about these things than I ever will
