Sad Bug: Bug or a little hint?

I got to thinking last night after my toon feel victim to the "sad bug" in the VP. Is this really a bug or could it possibly be a little hint from the Devs to help the little toons out.

For those of you that have been fortunate enough to not have experienced this "bug" I'll shed a little light on it.

It has been lurking around toontown since I have started (July 04) and probably before then and basically if the toon on your right (while at gag selection) goes sad in a battle (usually buidling or VP) then it seems you have a 50/50 chance of feeling sorry for this toon, throwing down your hole and going sad yourself.

I'm certain everyone has submitted a bug report when it happens and over the years I have received the same answer "Lag/latency issues". This got me thinking:

What if they actually designed the battle that way. I have never seen this happen during a CFO or a CJ. I've only seen it in a building and the VP. I do think it may happen in the factory but I don't believe I've seen it in the mints or DA's. Could those sneaky devs have put this in to persuade us big toons to help the little guys. Not that we want to see anyone go sad but just a little push to the entire group to work together. It does give something to ponder doesn't it?

We know that the VP was redesigned to be allow little toons to VP. They removed the "Help a toon 50 laff or less deafeat a VP" task after CashHQ was released. Seems they thought smaller toons would be VPing more often and winning more often so that extra push to help then was removed.

So what do you think? Is the so called "Sad bug" a little push to us to make certain everyone dances?

Oooh! Disney's at it again! Conspiracy I tell ya!

I don't know. I doubt they would intentionally add a bug into the game, but if they did, who knows what could happen. If they knew about it, and kept it in there, people might get angry. Good thought though.

IMO, i think its a bug i know this may not make since, But i was on test and toons who were in low laff just standing in BBHQ would lose the exact amount of laff just sitting there and then die.. it was very very odd and it was going to all the other toons.

I think this bug had happened to my friend in while we were in the office D. We were fighting cogs and then the cogs attack all of us, everyone seemed to be alright (No sad sound.)

However, when it came back to the chossing gag screen, I saw my friend with -1 laff point but he was still there and able to talk like normal. Moreover, his head wasn't hanging down at all. Anyway, he lost all of his gags just like he was dead.

Anyway, at the end, he got the experience point for the gag and jury notices as same as the rest of us.

What an exciting run

Interesting. I have also had this happen to me several times over the years. Most recently was this week in a factory on the west silo. It didnt seem anyone was lagging but the 25 laff uber next to me got hit and went sad, my laff was full still at 25, the toon next to me (higher laff) got hit for -15 and I got sent packing. That bug or whatever it is has been there for as long as ive been playing. I have never sent a bug report on this or much anything honestly, but it would be nice if it was meant to be this way if they could answer accordingly.

I've been trying as hard as I can to keep lil laffs alive in battle. I still die... I HATE THAT... conspiracy OR bug! One time I was at like 100 laff and a lil toon got hit after I just tooned him to full laff, (didn't have a unite) and died in one round then I went sad!!! It's a stupid bug that yes the TT team does work hard, but they should really fix it... :/

I think it's a bug. It isn't really fair if you lose all Laff and gags just because someone else does...

e.g. 100+ Laff toon, all gags and packed, ready to go with the VP. but he goes with a 20 or lower Laff into VP. You use some gags... The Mr. Hollywood does a Power Trip or Paradigm Shift. 20 Laff dies and 100+ Laff dies just because the other one died. All Laff and gags... gone. X-(

to shed a little light on this from personal experience:

on new toon in a mint, laff was a 95. i went in with 2 100+ laff toons, and one 86. the bad thing happens- 100+ clicks wrong gag, wakes up 4 cogs with sound. they decide to ALL attack him, and he dies. the friend next to him (the 86) suddenly drops to 7 laff, and me and the other toon are perfectly fine.

that sounds more like a bug to me then conspiracy, doesnt it?

Yeah that happened to me too. I was so confused. I had all my lvl 7 gags and lost them all cause one toon went sad. I think it's a bug becuase it's happened to me like three times already. Or maybe it is a dev thing who knows?

I've filed reports on this several times and never got the lag / latency reply. I have always been told that they are aware of this bug and "it will be fixed in an upcoming patch" which will be automatically downloaded to all users.

They should get together and compare notes at least.
