Post ATTA or KOATTA/ATTA discussion

Im putting this here because I don't want to upset any kids on the open forums and it's likely to spark debate. In talking with many ATTA members I feel that we are wondering if the ATTA is going to remain an adult group or if its going to start including kids. I thought a discussion here may help us to get our thoughts and opinions out.

I love kids. I really do. I'm a momma and enjoy it very much. However I do enjoy my breaks from the kids to have some adult time. The ATTA has provided that escape for me and I've really been enjoying it. I hate to see the ATTA turn into a shared group with the KOATTA. That is just my opinion, nothing against the KOATTA members.

I feel a great idea is to have one day/evening a week or so that the ATTA and KOATTA can join forces and do whatever they want. That way we can help out the kids and yet still keep the clan adult. I don't they should combine, I think we should have extra runs for those interested in helping out the kids.

It also greatly worries me that a child (or more, i dont know?) can read this private forum. There goes all hope of adult topics we don't want children to read. It seems they were accepted because of KOATTA status, but honestly a kid is a kid and these are private adult forums. The description says "and other adult topics" and I'd love to have some good adult conversations without the worry of upsetting the kids. IMHO only adults should be able to read this.

I worry about causing great debate here, but I just want to talk about this so we know where as a group we are headed and to make sure we are all on the same page.

Thats all.

I totally agree with you on this. I will remove who needs to be removed.

In no way will ATTA and KOATTAcombine. That would take the fun out of us adults playing together. These past couple of months have been the best I have ever had since I started playing tt well over 2 years ago. This group has shown me that we can be adults and STILL have fun playina kids game. No shuffling or whinning (for the most part hehe), we back eachother up, we protect eachother, the list goes on...its almost a garauntee that we dance because of this. because of the fact that we are all adults.

ATTA is adult only and its gonna stay that way.

I need a place where I can vent without hurting any feelings. My 10 yr old reads over my shoulder often, and she doesn't get why I am laughing. She doesn't understand what I think is funny. In a way, I like that! I want a place where we can kid each other, and laugh at ourselves. I don't want to have to wonder who is going to read my post.

The mods have said that they will give us lots of slack over here because it is private and adults only. If that changes, this forum will be edited as carefully as the other ones are.

Just my 2 cents.

I agree with McBee on this and think it is a viable issue that needs to be addressed. I don't want to offend any other members of this group either, including the kiddies.

I'm not a momma, just an aunt, and I love kids. But I joined this group because it is for adults. I would be happy to have a weekly joint event but would not like to see the two groups merged together as I really do enjoy playing and chatting with just adults and not having to worry about saying anything that a child shouldn't be hearing.

I think we need to keep the ATTA and the KOATTA as separate clans/guilds. This way I believe both clans will prosper, besides, kids usually have a different idea of what is fun for them anyway, such as racing.

Well done McBee for starting this thread....

I totally agree, I love my kids to bits, but I need a bit off time off LOL!

I am more than happy to help out Koatta, and help out on their events, or have joint events - Claudia your idea of setting out a day a week to do an event with them sounds look a good plan. My eldest son who is 7 loves Toontown and I enjoy playing alongside him, but I would prefer to keep ATTA as adults only.

I agree also. I sort of didn't know what to say, or what I could say if it was going to be a combined group. I think I can open up more and be myself more in our private forums here with adults only. I think you said it great Carmen, because I love kids too, I work with them every day, I have some of my own, and I am friends in TT with a few. So I hope that the kids won't take offense, I hate to cause hurt feelings. I will also sign up for some combined events to help the kids out. But it's going to be stinking great to not have to sensor ourselves the way we have in the public forums. And I would love to get my yahoo id off of my profile also.

I do have to agree as well that this group was formed for us crazy adults. I am a mother and love kids, I actually work at an elementary school. I do not mind helping kids or KOATTA members at all but I would like to keep our little group the way that is has been set up......

You guys are great, I know we all have the same feelings, we can chat freely (well, if TT doesn't catch us) and I have made some wonderful, wonderful, new adult friends.....

I don't think that anyone ever meant to suggest they combine.

I think the kids were only asking that we add the /KOATTA so their group would show up in the main forum listing and others would see it. I'm pretty sure he didn't mean to make it sound like they were one group.

And I think everyone here agrees that is a "adult" group *because* we all want somewhere to play with other adults. We may love the kids, but we need to be with other adults who understand us. I think it'd be marvelous if when we see them faltering (like now) we showed up to some of THEIR events to help create excitement and fill out elevators and if once or twice a month we sponsered some runs together. But I don't want them on our regular ATTA runs. And I'm pretty certain that the kids wouldn't want us to show up to every one of their runs either.

I am a little confused why this discussion has to take place? We all agreed in the other threads in the main forum that we want to help them, but we still want to be seperate groups. Honestly, since it was my suggestion to help them get things rolling I feel like maybe this is my fault and I've stirred up a bee's nest.

All I ever said is that I'd like to help them get things going so they could support themselves. To do that it may mean for awhile one or two or three of us showing up at their runs so they could actually do it.

As a mother I was aching when my son was talking me into letting him online that day "for his guild run" because I was pretty certain the guild had been idle for awhile and no one else was going to be there. So I prepared him for that and I decided I would go and bring my younger son too. So that Anderue wouldn't be left there standing outside that school house one day after joining his new guild wondering just where the others were. And after thinking about it I posted to the ATTA group hoping that maybe some others could get thier kids to come by, or to drop in on one of their own toons just my son wouldn't have that "My mom did this for me and no one else thought I was cool enough." feeling.

I never meant any of my posts to make it seem like I wanted to combine the guilds. I'm in ATTA to play with other adults. I play with the kids the other 75% of the time. So I'm sorry if I "started something" here. I always try not to join groups or post because of situations like this, but as you can see from my post count I can never keep my beak shut for long.

I'm the same as you all and just think that the secret part of the forum (With less strict posting rules! How great! Thanks mods!) will be a great release for us adults!

And I think that merging some of the boss runs with KOATTA will be loads of fun! I'll be looking for updates!!

It wasn't anything you said.

In private conversations there has been a LOT of confusion expressed. Also, on another thread I asked if "all ATTA runs will have KOATTA members attending" and was answered by a KOATTA member with, "Yes, some ATTA runs might have a KOATTA member or two attend the run." I got confused, along with several others. This post was to help clarify for those of us who became confused, and it was placed in these private forums so as to keep the discussion among the ATTA and not the KOATTA. Also this discussion was made when some concerns were brought up (again, most in private conversations) when kids were seen having access to these private adult forums. This thread's purpose was to get these concerns out in the open so we could as a group discuss what was really happening.

Hope that helps.

Little Trixie, I don't think that it was done on purpose to allow kids to come here. I am thinking they signed up to join the group and were granted permission on the belief that an adult was joining. I think it was great that one of the kids started the thread that got us all into this little group.
I think this discussion had to take place, because there were children on the adult forum who had access and posting. I think it was good to discuss it and decide as a group. I do not know any of the kids well, as I am pretty new around here. But I really want to make adult friends, and be able to speak my mind as an adult, and not offend a child.
I am willing to help in some boss runs with the KOATTA, I work full time, and will go to any that I am able to. Get my yahoo, and if I'm online and you need another toon, give me a call. I think most of the kids are better players than I am, though. LOL. I always need to work in all boss areas, and all the merits, cogbucks, and jn that go along with them.
I am happier knowing it's an adult only group though, or I wouldn't have joined.

OK McBee. Thank you! I'm a little too sensitive on things liek this, I'm always afraid of upsetting people, or of not reading things right. It sometimes hard for me to decode just what is being said and then I get worried that people that I've done somethign to upset other people!

Anyways, I was confused about why one of the kids was posting in here earlier too. I can understand if they post occassionally on the main board, but he came in and posted his Yahoo eMail and his AIM ID in the adult thread and that surprised me a little. BTW, perhaps those should be removed (if they haven't all ready been), for his safety. I don't allow my son to post his real eMail address on any forum here. We have a special family account for that sort of thing. And as a mom it sort of surprised me to see him posting his information in an "adults only" subforum, you know. If his parent wants to give out his information so we can help him, I don't mind that, but otherwise I don't think it's wise to leave it.

I did see Little Romeo suggested in our "description" we add a small bit about KOATTA. I think that's a reasonable request. Just so people know that there's a children's forum and clan here somewheres. I was surprised to find it here. And my kids were excited.

I am glad this discussion happened as it has laid to rest any worries we had as to the kids being given access to this area. I agree about possibly removing the yahoo ID from the thread also for his protection from our 'adult' conversations.
