I, also, thought they were for the adults. But, then I figured it was a "joint event" weekend. I think the intention is for our regular runs not to have the ATTA kids who show up in on the conf. Does that make sense? More of those growing pains, I guess.

It sure was fun, though. I look forward to readying the kid's reports. They have had more posts in the past few days, too!!

I plan on coming to the joint runs tonight, but if there are kids in the Yahoo conference don't invite me please. It's one thing talking to kids on Toontown where chat is heavily filtered and monitored, but I don't think it's appropriate for these kids to be in chat rooms with strangers they don't know. I doubt their parents would approve if they weren't accompanying them.

That's just me and my feelings on it. I'm not trying to stop you from including the kids in the chat conference if that's what suits the group, I just don't want to be included as I'd not feel right about it.

I thought we agreed that the chat will be restricted to adult only??? Even in the join event, I think the conferences should be just for adults. I don't think kids should be included in the conferences, and I am sure their parents would not like their kids to be involved in the adult conversation.

I do agree to this as well that any chat conferences should be restricted to adults only just to protect everybody all around.....

I dont know if this the right forum to put this but 4 days ago i removed my yahoo from my public profile and yesterday a non adult immed me , when i asked if he was a adult he said yes , come to find out he wasnt , the only other forum that hs my yh is A.T.T.A , I hope who ever is in charge of memebership for A.T.T.A Is being extreme careful about who they let in.

To sum up everything so there is no confusion:

ATTA Events:
Only for adults. Should kids show up, there is nothing anyone can do. Do we ask them to leave, no. We proceed as always.


Joint ATTA/KOATTA Special Events:
For both ATTA/KOATTA. These events are special events because they will ONLY take place once every so often.

Instant Messenger (IM): Regardless if the event is joint or not, there should not be children in the IM conferences.

I have told my sons that the ATTA events are adult only, and my son has some friends in the ATTA and they tell him "adult only". I'm perfectly okay with that, and so are the boys. The way I cover it (to explain why one KOATTA member has been attending some events and posting it) is that I tell them we prefer only adults to come along at those times, but we can't (and wouldn't want to) stop anyone from attending who wants to attend. So they understand that we'd rather them not be there even though that final decision is left up to them.

I would not be comfortable with my sons giving out their messenger ID. It's also their eMail and they only have it to communicate with family who lives far away. I was dismayed to see there may have been a younger member in the conference. Through many of their profiles adults can get information the kids don't even think twice about entering.


I do have to say though..... I did find it rather odd that twice now I've said something here and on the same day in their forum there appeared something that made me think "that's weird. That relates directly to what I said in the Happy Hour." For example, when speaking about the KOATTA coming to our events I asked if every KOATTA had an adult who was a member of ATTA. And a few hours later it was suggested on their board that their name be changed because KOATTA suggests they have a parent who plays TT and not all KOATTA members do.

And I wouldn't think much of it, but that also happened about something else I said here.

do you log off of TTC when you leave the pc or do you have it set so that you are automatically logged in when you open TTC? If so, anyone in your household has access to the Happy Hour forum via your User ID. Could be the info you see appearing in KOATTA that seems to be from ATTA is being posted by the child of an ATTA member who is using mom's or dad's login to read Happy Hour Lounge info. Same logic applies to YM. Yahoo gives an option of staying logged in up to 2 weeks at a time so you don't have to log in again each time. There may be parents who are using this, so their child has access to the chat via the parents' ID. Then we also have to accept that some of us have very bright children who very likely know our "secret" passwords in spite of our efforts to keep them secret - they are sharper than we think they are!

I think that there is no 100% full-proof way to childproof this site, just as there is no 100% fullproof way to childproof the internet. But it seems to me that the leaders of this group have gone to extraordinary lengths to restrict access as much as possible access by minors.

To everyone at the Joint Boss Battle runs yesterday, March 2nd:

Yes, my 13 year old daughter (a new member of the KOATTA) did join in the CFO IM conference at the 4:00 and 9:00 est CFO runs. I did ask at the 4:00 run if she could join the conference before she was invited and was told yes. I am so very sorry for causing any confusion or upsetting anyone. It will not happen again. After asking and being told it was okay I assumed (and you know what that does) that it was due to the fact it was a joint event. I am new to this group and would never intentionally hurt, offend or break the rules of this great guild. Please, forgive me.

I, also, would never let her give out her email address to adults. I did not think of that as she joined the conference. We sit right beside each other as we play TT, me at my desk, her with her laptop.

Again, I am sorry that I broke the rules. Forgive me. It will not happen again.

My daughter only joined the runs yesterday because they were "joint" events. Weren't they? I would not allow her and she will not be attending any ATTA events only. Oh, everyone I am so very sorry for all of this. I truly am....

If everyone feels that I or my daughter should be removed from this group please PM me and let me know. Again, I will state that I asked permission for her to join the IM conference at the 4:00 est CFO run. I am sure now I overstepped my bounds and put someone on the spot. They know who they are and I apologize to you.

I will not attend any events until I receive a PM from someone stating that it is okay. I am willing to remove myself (with much regret) from the ATTA and will also remove my daughter from the KOATTA.

I would have responded to this sooner but have been in bed with a stomach virus. I don't know what else to say... I am sorry.

Jenny, don't take it to heart hun. You did the right thing and asked first of all if she could attend the chat and the people there said no probs...

As you know we are still learning along the way. We have now had clarification from Steve re: chatting etc.

I for one am not removing you from the Group!!!!

Don't feel bad, or like you did anything wrong. If you read this thread you will see that we are working on figuring this stuff out as a group.

This might be another reason to consider the IRC Chat channel. Perhaps we could take this part of the discussion to the thread on communication.
