I am also afraid that if there is more more arguing about this and it's not settled that it will be taken away from us...and I don't think any of us want that!

here, here

I concur as well.

I only wanted to suggest a group i.d. for koatta that can be put under their names & that's it.

The other stuff needs to be dropped and let the dust settle.

Suspension does strange things to my head ... and my typing fingers. End already, please. I beg you TT. I am so bored and those withdrawals are killer!!

I'm having a hissy fit! (any wonder why my toon shares that name?)

How shall we settle this?

I thought the suspension was supposed to end today, wasn't it?

I think Lalita had a good idea, nothing else needs to be said there. The kids are funny, they keep posting in ATTA threads and keep asking if they are still the members. Sorry, just funny to me. I might have a twisted sense of humor...

I'm not trying to cause trouble on that other thread you guys. I guess I thought we'd be able to come to some sort of understanding with the KOATTA as it seems the kids are insisting on having ATTA membership.

Only way this forums is going away, is if you guys force me to take it away. Unless there is mass flaming and trolling going on or something as large a problem, this forum is staying.

I have to admit I'm thrilled this forum is here. I've wanted an "Adults Only" forum at TTC for a long time. The closest we have is the CCG forum and that's mostly TT/CCG business.

I agree that kids shouldn't be allowed to join for the reasons already stated. But I understand how they feel. Telling a kid they can't go somewhere makes them want to go there even more. Plus there's this feeling that you have special privileges that other kids on TTC don't have. Kids do have their own forum here where adults aren't allowed. Maybe we can encourage them to use that forum? I dunno. I feel bad that they're feeling left out. At the same time I'm kind of left out of many other discussions on this forum because they are kid-focused.

Anyway, those are my thoughts. Thanks Batleth and the other mods for all your help making this forum a reality.

I think what they were MOST upset about was being in the group (for some kids they've been ATTA for a while) and then feeling "kicked out".

I understand this is an adult forum and I want it that way. Like canadianloonie I think that they are just upset at loosing what they had for so long. I can relate to being a youngster who was complimented on being mature and being allowed to be part of adult things. The problem comes when you suddenly take that from them for no obviously good reason to them. They were adult enough to be a part of A.T.T.A for so long and now they just feel like we slammed the door in their face. Now, believe me, I'm not willing to compromise our adult independence. I just feel really terrible that kids that were allowed to contribute to and be part of something that they obviously loved, now have to make sense of the sudden changes. Its sometimes really hard to deduce tone and intent from the printed word in forum posts. I know I ask myself all the time if a poster is being sarcastic or mean, having a bad day, or making a bad joke. To a younger person we may sound very blunt, uncaring, and rude about something that is important to them (to me, none of us sound that way, but maybe to them) Its just going to take time and understanding ...and like everyone says ..lets help get their forum going...then they won't care about ours. This is just my 2 cents worth..and its probably not worth that much..lol I love this group...and can't wait to get to know more of you!

Just waiting for the thug run...lol,

Tammy

I want to say that I feel pretty badly for the kids, especially when my vote was so heavily against their being recognized as ATTA members. I honestly didn't realize how old the clan was and how long they've been members. Up until this evening I thought the kids were KOATTA members who were confused into thinking they were ATTA members. Now I'm realizing that they were actually considered ATTA members in addition to Koatta. I hope I didn't step on too many kids or parents toes.

I want to offer any assistance that I can in helping out the Koatta. I'd love to attend some of their runs if they need a helping hand. Hopefully they can get their clan growing and feel more of an identity with it.

Here are my suggestions:

1) Create a poll for the Forum name: Options are:
- leave names as they are
- change k.o.a.t.t.a. to K.O.A.T.T.A
- change forum title to ATTA and KOATTA
Both groups vote

2) Change title for birthday thread to ATTA and KOATTA birthdays

3) Add thread to main forum for joint events schedule

4) Create a poll for joint events -- which organized first. Options are:
- Fishing fiesta
- Speedway
- Golf
- Building buster
- Boss runs
Both groups vote

5) Change title of ATTA toon task help to include ATTA in title

6) Add thread in KOATTA for task help

7) Add thread to KOATTA for event day/time. Possible options:
Weekday 8 GMT, 5 ET, 2 PT
Weekday 10 GMT, 7 ET, 4 PT
Weekend 4 GMT, 11 ET, 8 PT
Weekend 8 GMT, 5 ET, 2 PT

IMHO if we move this from a discussion to some actions, we will be done and can move ahead. Everyone on ATTA who has posted has expressed support for the kids. There will most likely be adults who don't request membership and will follow our posts and events. This will start bringing the groups together while better defining the threads for each.

What do you think?

Margaret

I have changed the birthday calendar to incorporate the KOATTA members too (some of them were already included).

Yes, the sooner the ball starts rolling, the faster it will go.

So that Anderue wouldn't be left there standing outside that school house one day after joining his new guild wondering just where the others were. And after thinking about it I posted to the ATTA group hoping that maybe some others could get thier kids to come by, or to drop in on one of their own toons just my son wouldn't have that "My mom did this for me and no one else thought I was cool enough." feeling.
My son has done the same. He saw how much fun I was having with ATTA so he worked very hard to finish his homework & chores to earn KOATTA time. But it seems like KOATTA has fizzled.

I have a suggestion. IMO it is redundant to have the same person on my Yahoo list & my Toontown sf list. I am willing to clear out some room on my TT friend list to accommodate KOATTA members. Can we post names here? Probably not so I won't, but I have at least 4 KOATTA members on my list already. Since many of us have Yahoo ID's I am willing to strive to have Yahoo become my main form of communication when involved in an ATTA event. Especially during gameplay, it gets very busy keeping track of the game, sf & speedchat chatter, IRC, yahoo, conference etc. But then again, I have trouble walking & chewing gum at the same time.
