Test Update

June 6, 2003 [sv1.0.6.5.test]

Cog/Battle sounds are now volume attenuated by distance.
Getting stuck in the river in the Estates is fixed.
Closet problem with lady toon wearing a skirt and using guy's closet fixed.
Switching shard during a cog invasion will reset credit for it.
You can delete toons again.
Some cleanup to adjust for different size Toons.
The display settings will always be saved when exiting Toontown normally.
More robust handling of uunexpected timeouts and disconnects during battle.
Teleporting to a friend at a non-friend's house in a different shard does not crash now.
We are trying a new connection method to defeat the 0-timer bug. Please tell us if you still see it.

Huh?

Shard? I presume they mean district, but that definition is not in my Websters.

I've seen the term "shard" used for other online games, like Ultima Online.

I think they mean districts..

Shard is definitely UO. Can't the developers even keep it straight? Maybe they just want to sound 1337 01d 5|<001 and confuse new people?

I hope everyone that has a test account can do some marathon testing this weekend so we can get the 0-timer bug fixed in the open edition ASAP, assuming no other bugs are found.

Thanks!

Yup, UO and UO only. If any of you played UO in the early days, there used to be a movie before the client loaded that explained "the Hero"'s fight against Mund.. err Mondane. In the story, the crystal that contains "the world" was broken during the fight, and of course when you break a crystal you get shards, all containing smaller copies of the larger world.

noticed two differences this morning on test, not exactly bugs.

1) The enter key from the logon screen no longer takes you to the game, use the button to login... When I used 'enter' the game didn't load (in fact the browser shut down).

2) The water storm does a double sound when I used it (in a building, not that it matters). Once when expected, then again later, this might be their attenuation....

Keep Smiling, ...Bear

and I didn't get zero timer (and I'm inclined to get it)... Good news, but only time will tell.

Do any of y'all know what this is about? Did you used to keep getting credit for an invasion if you hopped out of the district in which it was occurring? Or do they mean if you leave a district during an invasion you lose the bonus skill points you got? Or is there some other kind of 'credit' that is lost?

I'd test these theories, but I haven't seen an invasion on test in weeks. :O
