Toontown Game Server News: Attention All Toons! Please take a moment to read the Release Notes under the News section for some very important information to help you avoid a nasty crash! The Toon Council appreciates your cooperation.

May 1, 2008 [sv1.0.33.6]

*** KNOWN ISSUES ***
  • Crash Alert! Currently if you click on a friend from your Friends List, then click on his or her Blue Arrow button (the button which shows additional information about your friend such as Gag levels, the District they are in etc), you will crash! Please refrain from checking your Friends' details this way. You can work around this by only clicking on the Nametag of a Toon (above his or her head) to check Toon details.
  • We are working hard on fixing this issue and will release the fix as soon as possible!
Bug fixes
  • Fixed many crash causing bugs which occurred when your Toon teleported, or ran through tunnels.
  • Fixed crash bug which occured while your Toon watched other Toons ride the Geyser in Acorn Acres.

Programming is very complex.

Any little minor mistake with the code or networking, and suddenly the game could be ruined(although that's not as likely to happen)
On it's way to being implemented to open server, something must've changed in the code they didn't test.

Yes but you would think if the code they just put in is causing this crash then instead of leaving it and saying we are working to fix it just don't use this feature they would back out the code they just put in until they get the issue resolved. That is what I would have been required to do when I was working a code implementation.

If the issue affects the end users usage of the system then you have to back it out. If it is only internal people it is happening to you can get away. Toontown is all external/end-user customers so it should be backout until they figure it out.

They should make a copy of the system as it was before the release, do the release then if major issues like this put the copy back in, roll it back basically.

Also they don't have this in the release notes but apparently the extra cogs/hammers/bonus weight is back in cj. Been in a few lately that should have had it and hadn't and my hubby is in one right now and has the extra cog and bonus weight.

Is the use of solid software engineering principles by the developers hidden in the EULA somewhere? I must have missed that
